  1. We needed that big play
  2. needed a better return than that
  3. I think it was that Minnesota game where he ripped the ball away from Moss in the endzone...
  4. I don't think we should go after a guy we could have just resigned just one year ago.
  5. You don't deserve to watch 24. Jack Bauer disagrees. Cannot wait for 24. Hope the game ends quickly so I can see Jack kill lots of people and thwart terrorist attempts only to learn there's a bigger one lying ahead. We need to win in order for me to enjoy that show.
  6. You don't deserve to watch 24.
  7. Our secondary is good, not great. Some analysts have gone as far to call Mike Brown the best safety in the league (I don't agree with that though). I think Tillman is a better corner than Vasher; Vasher might get more INTs, but he doesn't cover the other teams #1 like Tillman does. Tillman looked bad early in the year but hasn't been burned in recent weeks. I know its early, but I'm predicting a Pro-Bowl year for him next year. Vasher has came up with the big play this year. The secondary has good tacklers (Harris especially) and some play-makers, but coverage can be a bit suspect at times. I wouldn't say you're wrong in saying its not a great secondary... but I think it is definitely a good one.
  8. If you could play one position in the majors, what would it be? How closely do you follow the Cubs farm system and its top prospects? Some of us here spotted you at the Bulls game recently, how was that?
  9. It seems to me that all the media outside of Chicago is picking the Panthers to win against us at home... I remember what happened last time they did that.
  10. He was saying our 4th and 5th starters would be better than the 4th and 5th starters on other teams, not better than all of their rotations.
  11. Watching him pitch, it's not completely him not throwing strikes. It's umpires not knowing how to judge a ball that moves that much. When it hits the front of the plate at the guy's belt and is at his ankles as it crosses the back of it it's tough to call. Once umps get a feel for his pitches (gets Maddux-like calls) he'll be set. Yes, but how many pitchers get Madux-like calls? Maddux and Glavine...and not that many others. Most have to overcome inconsistent umps. I always thought Clemens got a ridiculous amount of strike calls thrown his way just because of who he is.
  12. Why do we even start threads with mlbtraderumors as a source?
  13. 35) With relievers that Dusty will trust (Williamson, Eyre, Howry), Wuertz won't be overused and will have an excellent year.
  14. I miss having great production from right field. That is all.
  15. Jones beats the helloutta Burnitz or Patterson in RF. People set their sights way too high for RF given who was available, i.e. nobody good. i want your reasoning on why jones "beats the hell outta burnitz". Younger, better d and speed. Burnitz is bound for a .700 ops. How does Jacque Jones provide better defense than Burnitz? No doubt Burnitz has the better arm. Jones might have more speed, but I don't think that his glove is any better. Burnitz was one of the better corner OF with the glove last year.
  16. $7M in 2006 $10M in 2007 $12M in 2008 With Contreras, Buerhle, Vazquez, Garland, Garcia and McCarthy, it gives KW the flexibility to shop one for a bat. My guess: Garcia. The Sox are way over budget and must trade one of their pitchers without assuming a large contract (e.g, Tejada). If Hendry was smart (the jury is still out), he would trade enough prospects (ex-Hill) to the Sox to get Garcia or Vazquez or Garland and then flip him with Hill and Patterson to the Orioles for Tejada. Assuming the O's bite, that way the Cubs could get their man without giving up Prior. If it made the Sox better, KW would cooperate with the Cubs and would love to rub it in their faces if one of the propects paid dividends later. I can see that happening. Hendry should offer CPatt (to compete with the Sox's rookie CF), Ohman (because the Sox need left-handed bullpen help) and a prospect like Hill for Freddy Garcia or Garland. CPatt, Ohman, and Hill for Garcia/Garland is overpaying. I think we could get a lot more than that if we were going to trade those three. Bruce Miles told us that Hill wouldn't be traded for Dunn straight up, thats how much Hendry values him.
  17. Thats the problem with having an inconsistent offense; we need all the good pitching we can get. That being said, I think Jerome Williams is a fine 4th/5th starter option.
  18. Thanks for the warning.
  19. The Cubs will still outdraw the White Sox next year. Its a Cub town.
  20. How was Nomar's injury last year a fluke injury? I consider Prior's multiple DL trips where he was in a collison (either with a player or a ball) to be flukes, but hurting yourself coming out of the batter's box? We all knew Nomar was battling injuries coming into the year. I think its pretty fair to say he's an injury prone guy.
  21. Realistically, do you think Dusty is going to play Cedeno over Neifi?
  22. I never understood why it is that since previous prospects didn't work out for us, that future ones will not.
  23. Bruce told us that Hendry wouldn't deal Hill for Dunn before, I doubt he'd deal him for Freel.
  24. Would rather have Wilkerson come here and play RF than send off Williams to get another middle infielder.
