Anyone else catch the end of last night's Chargers-Bengals game? Two things stuck out to me:
Game was tied with about 40 seconds left and the Chargers had just driven into field goal range. With a time out in their pocket, they decided to keep the offense moving and actually scored a touchdown with 0:18 left in the game to take the lead. You know, rather than sit on the ball for a long field goal attempt.
The Bengals proceeded to get the ball near mid-field for one last Hail Mary. The Chargers then used their last time out to review their defensive assignments for the final play... and proceeded to blitz Joe Burrows into hurrying his final pass. It ended up getting knocked down short of the goal line. You know, rather than....
Frustrating to watch it all done correctly. Even more frustrating because both tactics have been used time and time again by head coaches to get successful outcomes.
Except Eberflus.
