  1. I love Tyshawn. He's frustrating a lot of the time, but he can do things that not a lot of other guys can do. TRob is our best player, but Tyshawn is probably our most important. Perhaps the best reason to love him: "Point Plank'n."
  2. He was a pretty good play-caller at KU. Our offenses put up big numbers when he was there.
  3. And 100% of the kids with actual BCS talent. But whatever. It sounds like a few of them flunked out and a few of them got caught smoking weed a few too many times. Darrian Miller is the one that sucks the most. Dude was a player.
  4. part of me agrees with this, but i do think that gums is correct about the obstructed views. sure you get the benefit of having the upper deck be uncharacteristically close to the action, however it doesn't come without significant compromise. almost as soon as you get under the deck in the grandstands, your view is obstructed for high fly balls, and the situation gets worse and worse the farther back you go. then there's those poles. as far as the seats being "uncomfortably" close, i don't really get that. if i were king, i would tear down the upper deck and re-do the entire grandstand to modernize the main concourse running beneath the seats. i would then replicate the upper deck as close as possible to what it is, but cantilever it rather than supporting it with posts. this would be a compromise that would eliminate the obstructed views of the field, but, of course, fly balls would still need to be followed by watching the field/crowd rather than actually looking at the baseball. lastly, instead of plastering video screens everywhere, i would create a state-of-the-art mobile game presentation, allowing attendees to scan their tickets and gain access to an audio, video, and statistical presentation of the game unlike anything in the league. but i'm not king, and none of that will ever happen. that's a brilliant idea
  5. OU seems to be losing a lot of transfers. We got a former 4-star RB from there a few weeks ago and I have heard there are more kids ready to jump ship too. Why is KU turning into the Iowa St. of football? because we didn't have a lot of talent to begin with, and some of our best players basically flunked out and can't return next year.
  6. Thought it was interesting that Hoiberg sat white for that stretch toward the end of the game. ISU looked pretty good. I'm very surprised MU beat them in Hilton. Great games by Withey and Taylor for KU.
  7. KU hires Dave Campo for its DC. Campo fun fact: at 65-years-old, he's still faster than his starting CB at Dallas, Terence Newman.
  8. Nice youtube comments handle you have there snood. sometimes a little bit of honesty makes the best username.
  9. KU scooped up Justin McCay, a former 4star receiver who'd slid down the depth chart at OU.
  10. Jake heaps (5* from byu) just announced he's transferring to KU, too. Crist for 1 year, then Heaps for the next two. Kinda bananas.
  11. You've clearly never seen Dayne Crist play, either. You've clearly never seen our current QB play.
  12. I have no idea how the Charlie Weis experiment is going to work out, but he's gotten Dayne Crist and Jake Heaps to both visit KU in his first week or so. Never thought I'd see anything like that.
  13. Doesn't explain why he turned down the Vandy job last offseason, though. Well, the realization could have come after getting to experience life post-Cam. That said, Malzahn's been a bit of a celebrity coordinator all along, so I don't even know if I believe that line of thinking. Just trying to come up with something that makes some sense. I think he thought he'd get offered one of the bigger jobs and started scrambling when he wasn't. Early in the process, the KU rivals insider guy had been hearing from people who would know that GM wouldn't consider KU. But when all the jobs started disappearing, all of the sudden we were a real player for him.
  14. The Big Ten definitely is better than the Big East in basketball this year, by a large margin. The Big 12 might be better than the Big East this year. in basketball? i think this is a pretty bad year for hoops in the big 12.
  15. He needs to hire a good defensive coordinator, but if he can do that there's no reason he can't do well at KU. His last ND team went 6-6 but scored at least 21 points in all their losses (which were all by 7 or less). With a competent defense he'll do fine. ETA: Truffle's not wrong about treating ND folks like crap (I've heard the same chatter), although if the stuff about Mangino is true it can't be any worse than him. there's no way he'll be worse than mangino.
  16. I wanted Malzhan over Weis, but to be honest, I don't know much about Weis and why he failed at ND. Is the consensus from people who follow Notre Dame that this was a mistake hire for KU?
  17. Lot of talk that Charlie Weis is KU's #1 target, and if he passes, Gus Malzhan gets the gig.
  18. when RG3 goes on to excel in the NFL, he'll just say the SEC is a tougher league.
  19. You think they'd take the hit of hiring Christensen? I've seen a good bit of "Christensen coached at Mizzou, RAAAAGE" chatter. I think he would do a pretty decent job. He's a very good offensive mind, and he's had success with a couple QBs in a pretty bad situation for Wyoming. He's familiar with Big 12 country obviously, but was never considered an ace recruiter. Given what we know, I think he's less likely than some of the alternatives to crater like Gill did, but I don't think it's likely that he'd be able to elevate KU past Glen Masondom. His defensive coordinator would be a very important hire, probably one that would define his tenure. At this point, we're gonna take a hit no matter who we hire. The drooling masses would only be satisfied with a big name like Leach or Fedora, but they don't realize big name candidates aren't exactly busting down the door in Lawrence. Besides, the people who have a beef with Christensen because of his ties to Mizzou are idiots. They're the same ones who think Zenger will tank any realignment meetings because he went to KSU and wants to make sure he takes care of his alma mater. I think his ceiling is higher than Mason, but he has a similar rebuilding project as Mason did. But Mason actually did pretty well, all things considered. Yeah, the Mason thing wasn't necessarily an insult. I like Christensen, but I don't think he's the guy to elevate a program like say, Malzahn might be able to. On the other hand, Christensen is less likely to have his tenure go down in flames with 10 loss seasons and/or NCAA sanctions. He's the safety school of coaches. allegedly we've been talking to malzhan, but why would he take the gig? He could have any number of better gigs in the next couple of years. I'm actually surprised his name hasn't been floating around more this coaching cycle.

I'd probably want Calhoun the most of the realistic targets, but we'll have to wait for the big dogs to eat before we find out if we have a shot at him.
  21. I guess I'm hoping for Dave Christensen or Troy Calhoun. Not feeling Sonny Dykes. TT, Butters...thoughts on Christensen as a HC?
  22. I heard some chatter he may end up at Akron.
  23. Are they going to be making a run at Smart or an SEC coach in general? The two names I've heard most are Smart and Sumlin. We shall see. wouldn't fedora be the no-brainer? didn't he grow up in college station?
  24. besides, just wait till we sign the Eastern Carolina WR coach to our head coaching position. We'll be the new Texas of the Big Whatever in no time.
