  1. That was a horrible performance. What was up with Rondo? He had 18 points, but it seemed like in the most crucial parts of the game, he was over in the corner twiddling his thumbs. UK has to have an inside presence, or this will be a very long season. I can easily see them losing to Indiana, maybe Kansas, and then there's Florida, LSU, and Alabama once the SEC season starts. I doubt they'll lose to Kansas. Kansas would have to play well, but I wouldn't be totally shocked. I also forgot to add Louisville. What's your take on Patrick Sparks? I know that's a vague question, but try and answer it anyway.

  3. Sounds like a pretty big gamble. I didn't realize he'd had two TJs.
  4. That did really happen? Unreal.
  5. No, but I hope they do. I can't stand it how the old Dolphins players pop a bottle of champagne whenever the last unbeaten goes down. I don't know why, but for some reason it bothers me.
  6. very nice get for UI
  7. Why are Cook and Williams's failure Self's fault. Is it possible they just weren't good enough to make an impact in the NBA? Also, I'd need to see evidence they "didn't get any better" other than you just saying so. It's not like I don't understand the bitterness. I was furious when Roy left. And personally, I think Roy's situation was harder on our fans. He'd already rejected UNC once. He left right afer 2 final fours, when the program was really gaining momentum. And he went to a school most fans consider a rival. But I'm over it at this point. I don't root for UNC, but I've never rooted for them. I did root for him to win the NC, though, because he did a lot for our school. I still think it was a crappy thing to bolt for UNC, but I realize he thinks it's a better job, and he thought he'd be happier there. So more power to him. I'm just tired of the Self/KU bashing from Illini fans. They always talk about how they got a better coach, hown they're in better hands now with Weber. If they really believe that, the should just let it go. Just my opinion.
  8. IG, what's your evidence that players don't improve under Self? His UI players generally got better. I love how Self gets no credit for improving Deron, Head, Dee, etc's game. Of course they were better last year than they were with Self. They were 2 years more mature. That doesn't mean Self didn't help them. It's like saying Roy Williams didn't deserve any of the credit for Wayne Simien. Of course he did. He coached him for 2 years. But Self gets some credit for Wayne, too, and he was an A-A. Miles went from a player who couldn't shoot to a decent shooter who actually stuck with the league. In fact, I haven't looked it up, but I bet you more Self-coached players have played in the NBA than Weber's. I just don't understand the unchecked bitterness of so many Illini fans. So many I talk to have a white Sox mentality when it comes to Self--they don't know what's better, for UI to win or Self to lose. Lame. I'm starting to hope Self steals every good player from Illinois just to spite UI fans.
  9. My high school was the Evanston Wildkits, a wussification of the Northwestern Wildcats. Basically we took an already generic team name from a college with a miserable sports program, wussified it, and voila!
  10. After choking against Arkansas, KU came back to beat Chaminade. 1-2 is better than 0-3 in Maui.
  11. KU looked like the young team they are, but I'm not surprised. 'Zona is a tough matchup for team of freshmen and Sophomores. Still, we were in it till the last few minutes despite almost 30 TOs. I think we'll be pretty tough come March.
  12. Falling debris. Heh. You never hear anything like that happening at Wrigley....
  13. I'm with Gooney and BK. I want no part of Mench, except maybe as a bench player. bench/Mench. It even rhymes. So it has to make sense. As for the lineup, it's definitely an improvement over last year, but it still requires a heavy reliance on our pitching, and that worries me. I realize no matter what we do, we'll live and die by our SP, but I'd like to give us a little margin for error. That lineup is one Wood bum elbow away from being a third place team again. An impact bat in RF gives us a chance to compete even with a few injuries.
  14. Bingo. Plus, it's great for sleeping. Anyone going to argue against my pro-sleeping agenda? And I agree on the refreshed feeling. I made the mistake of riding my bike back from the gym in shorts when the wind chill was about 18 degrees today, but other than that, I love it. Can't wait for some real snow. Sleeping in cold weather is great. It is a great feeling to just be able to get under a big pile of blankets. I also like being able to wear big sweaters all the time. Much more comfortable. Only thing I miss is flip-flops. That's why you crank up the AC, turn on a box fan, and turn on a ceiling fan in the summer. Trust me, you'll need some blankets during the night.
  15. I want to be able to do things outside. Give me the heat.
  16. So basically, Cubs fans are right, and the rest of America is wrong? Didn't BP do a feature a while back touting Lee for MVP? As did Dayn Parry for Fox Sports. As did you. So what? Two guys like Derrek Lee. Do you want me to show you the links that say that Pujols should be the MVP? You insinuated only Cubs fans thought DLee should've won it. they proved you wrong. I think that was the point there. Obviously I was making an exaggerated point when I said "the rest of America". I guess I should clarify. The vast majority of America, outside of Cubville, believes that Pujols was the most valuable player in the National League this year. You were ignoring the obvious purpose of their posts is all I'm saying, and it seemed silly. They were just providing evidence to support the idea that an objective observer might rule in favor of DLee. But you pretended they were saying there was more MVP support for Lee than Pujols.

  19. He's going to be suspended for the first semester. It's pretty disappointing. We've got to tighten the ship, IMO. Too much has happened in the last 4 years, with some of it happening under Roy, some under Self. As for it being the same thing that happened to UI, I don't know if that's true. We only know the bare details of both situations. But I don't think this is the last we'll hear of it. According to a poster on phog.net, the ruling we just saw was solely regarding DJs eligibility. That's entirely separate from the infractions committee.
  20. Not really, Bucknell beat you in the tournament. I think "Belmont" might be a better comeback anyways. Let me go on record as saying I freaking despise Quin Snyder. Not fair. You guys never get to the tournament.
  21. At least I now have a good comeback whenever a Mizzou guy says "Bucknell" to me.
  22. I also saw this deal on Rotoworld: Braves get: Julio Lugo and Jesus Colome Rays get: Johnny Estrada, Wilson Betemit, and Jake stevens Would it really cost that much to get Lugo?
  23. For those too lazy: Out of curiousity--I don't know anything about Nieve and ALbers. Can we match that package?
  24. heretic. KU vs. ISU. If KU wins, we're bowl eligible.
