  1. Might have something todo with the fact ISU has no post game and thus shoots a lot of jumpers. (They're one of the worst teams in the Big 12 w/ regards to getting to the line). Conversely, KU has plenty of bigs to toss it down to, adn they also penetrate more, which is why they shoot more FT.
  2. Could Portland support a team?
  3. Indeed. It was a good game. OU let up too early though, and it showed. They seemed relaxed, and all of a sudden, whamo! KU is back in business. happy bday, by the way.
  4. Jayhawks with a 16 pt comeback to beat OU at home. Heck of a game.
  5. You will be losing my historic first post. Are you really willing to just throw that away?
  6. Wow. I just saw PSU/UI highlights. Rarely do you see a the fans rush the court after a loss.
  7. I assume this is different than PECOTA? If so, what's James's track record w/ regards to accuracy? Because if those guys are putting up those numbers, I'm suddenly feeling way better about '06.
  8. I keep reading this. Who exactly are we going to trade Jones to? Snood, I'm not singling you out on this, just using your post as an example. Well, the Cubs weren't the only team interested in signing him. To me, that implies other teams value him somewhat. If we ate some of the salary, I don't see why it would be so hard to trade him. I'm not suggesting we'd get much back for him. I'm just saying it's not like we'd be trying to move a Mo Vaughn contract. Worse players than Jacque Jones have been traded before. it's not unrealistic to think it could happen again. Jim Hendry didn't sign Jones to trade him down the road. He likes Jones. Jones fits the exact stereotype of a "Jim Hendry guy". Could they trade him? Obviously everybody can be traded. If Hundley, Sosa and ARod can be traded, despite their seemingly crazy contract situations and varied level of performance expectations, the Jones can be traded. But you can't assuage the grief surrounding his presence on the team (and likely in the middle of the lineup) by saying he might be tradable in a year. Hendry wants him on the team. Probably true. My point was just that it's theoretically possible we won't have to watch Jones suck for a full three years. I'm not saying it's likely, but as they said in Dumb and Dumber, "So you're saying there's a chance!"

  10. While I'm against the Jones signing, his contract/salary aren't trade prohibitive. It's possible we'll deal Jones if we extend Pierre and Pie is ready in '07.
  11. Singler promised KU a visit. He'd be a nice Downs replacement. I see. Well, he can't make any official visits till he's a senior next year, but I'm sure he'll also visit Arizona and Oregon to boot. This will be Love's second unofficial visit to UCLA. A win over Arizona would be helpful on Saturday, I know the Bruin Den will make a good impression on both Love and Singler. :) I've heard he'll only take 3 visits--UCLA, Duke, KU. UCLA seems to have the lead from what I've read. However, I 've also read there is no guaranteed Love/Singler package deal. Where are you hearing only 3 visits? Everything I've read seems to indicate UNC is as high as the others. I don't think Love/Singler are a package, especially given the differences in their top choices. But, Love came back from his previous unofficial to UCLA and really seemed to sell it to Singler, who put UCLA towards the top of his list. I hope UCLA has the lead on Kyle, haven't read anything about him really favoring any of his top choices. I read it somewhere on phog.net, so it might not be accurate.
  12. NCAA has released its first RPI standings. http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/weeklyrpi/rpi1.html
  13. why the hate on weber? it's not like he left KU for UI, is it? all he's done is be much better than self, but so have a lot of coaches. Good gracious. Where did I say anything bad about Bruce Weber? I don't hate Bruce Weber. I hate Brent Musberger's one-note, tunnel-vision style of broadcasting. Okay, Brent, we get it. You love Bruce Weber. How about announcing the game.
  14. The relentless Bruce Weber knob-slobbing done by Musberger is making this game almost unwatchable.
  15. Uhh? Gordon, Smith, Frazier, McBride, Pruitt, Randle, Semrau, maybe Freemen, Beverly, and Rose. Am I forgetting anyone? I'm sure they'll be ranked at least. Gordon doesn't come in til 2007-2008 class, Beverly has stated that Illinois is out of it now, Rose no one knows about. Hopefully we get Freemen (if he qualifies) or Darquavis Tucker who shortened his list down to I think Mich St. Illinois and Uconn.. fwiw, beverley has said that illinois is still in the hunt, it's his coach that has claimed to have removed illinois from the list. i'm sick of coaches trying to dictate where players go. Sulley I thought that Beverley went ahead and removed us too. I think I read that in the Sun Times. I would rather have any of the other guys though as Beverley has some major issues at this point. He has never played on a team that plays man to man defense. He won't send his transcript to the U of I which basically is like admitting he won't be elligible. I read what Sully read--his coach removed UI from the list. Beverly hasn't.
  16. Robinson, Chlamers, and Rush are a prety solid three-headed monster. Chalmers in particular is a menace on both ends of the court. If there's one thing to say about this KU squad, they're never dull to watch. I've never seen a more bipolar team. Look great one -second, look completely inept five mnutes later. a 13 point lead with two-minutes left is still nerve-wracking. Still, I'm really starting to like them. And I'm looking forward to the rematches w/ KSU and MU. I've been telling some KU fans at work that this year kind of reminds me of Bill Self's first year at Illinois when he had a young team. They stunk for the first three and a half months of the season and finished last in the Big Ten, but won their last few regular season Big Ten games and as the bottom seed made it all the way to the Big Ten championship game only to get blown out by the eventual national champs Michigan State. I said all of that to say this, KU will be fine this year. I heard that Micah Downs left school because he missed his girlfriend back home. I know he wasn't getting a lot of playing time, but knowing Bill Self from Illinois I bet he wasn't doing anything in practice. That's really the only time you get in his dog house. I think you're right. Self repeatedly said, "We need Micah to play his way into the rotation." Apparently he didn't. Personally, I think Downs was upset about it. And for a person to give up that easily--after only one semester--doesn't say much about the kid's fortitude. There are lots of other rumors, though, so I'm not sure what to believe. Whatever it is, hopefully he'll get it all worked out at Gonzaga, because if he gets his head on straight, he could be a great player. downs just realized that he left one of the most beautiful regions of the world for kansas. i'm betting he was homesick. :P Lawrence is actually not bad, particularly the campus. But it's no Pacific Northwest.

  18. Brandon Rush is good. I wish he'd stay 2 years, but it doesn't make much sense for him personally.
  19. Singler promised KU a visit. He'd be a nice Downs replacement.
  20. The Tampa Bay Mons Venus (for those of you who know the only good reason to visit Tampa)
  21. The irony of this post--it being on a Cubs message board and all--almost crashed my computer.
  22. i Doubt it. I think he's most likely UNC bound, maybe UI. Why give up a sure thing for a guy you have only a slim chance of landing?i think because of the numbers situation with schollys being gone at unc, that louisville will be the big competition for illinois on rose. Illinguy--Rose is a junior, right? Has he set a "commit date", or is he willing to let his recruitment go into his senior year?
  23. IU fans--if davis is gone, how does that affect the Darrell Arthur recruitment. Is an Arthur committment contingent on Davis being there?
