  1. well what about Kansas who doesn't play a road game. Well I guess they are in the maui invitational, but come on Billf try to get the freshman ready for roadtrips into OU and OSU. Self Doesn't make the schedule, the AD does. Regardless of where our games are played, we have a pretty tough schedule. In Maui, we'll play #9 Arizona, then #2 UCONN or Arkansas (probably Arkansas). Our noncon also includes St. Joe's in NY, Cal in KC, and #25 Nevada and #10 Kentucky in Lawrence. Keep in mind, our the avg. age of our players is about 12. Anyway, I wouldn't expect to see KU take too many non-con road trips in the near future, unless it's against a premier team. Our AD is really money focused, and there's too much money to be lost playing mediocre teams on the road. Kind of lame, but I guess that's the way things are now. your young guys, rush in particular looked pretty damn good against Fort Hayes. He gets whatever shot he wants which is an NBA player already. Those are the key words in that sentence. But by all accounts, Rush was impressive. It should be an exciting season for us, although full of struggles and probably a few bad losses. (OU, UT, Zona, probably UK.)

  3. 66-14 now. Texas v USC will be a very fun game to watch. Funny how several kU fans actually thought theyd be able to compete with Texas for a little while. Looks like Texas is just flexing its muscles now. I don't think we were totally delusional. Hate KU all you want, we've got a very good defense, and we played them very well last year. Texas is, apparently, a much better team this year than last, and KU is a much differnt team on the road than at home. not that this would be close in Lawrence, either.
  4. For a supposedly great D, our secondary looks awful.
  5. Texas smacking down my boys 14-0 with 7 left in the first. Ouch.
  6. I saw VERY little of Hill, and I know we can't judge him based on that cup of coffee he had last season, but I see no reason to cling on to him like grim death. He might be good, but he might be really mediocre, too. He's not a can't-miss guy we should be making off-limits. Hopefully, O_O is correct, and it's simply negotiating tactics.
  7. What exactly is it about Mench's Burnitz-esque numbers that makes him a nice fit for us? I suppose I wouldn't mind him as a fourth OF, but if we already have Murton, there's no room for a Mench in the everyday lineup. oh, and I feel bad for Sammy, though he has brought a lot of it on himself. I wish there were some way he could redeem himself and then go out with grace. (Not Mark Grace. That would get ugly.)
  8. I don't know if I agree. Player on both the Cubs and the Cardinals have said they'd rather see Houston win than their traditional rival.
  9. But not as good as Rambo IV (also in the works.)
  10. That's why he can't get my vote. To me, it's akin to being deformed, which is way different than being ugly. Having a deformity is cheating in an ugly competition. Now Mossi, that's good old-fashioned ugly. He doesn't need a second head growing out of his face to be jaw-droppingly hideous. He's just suiting up and coming correct with a classic, triple-fugly mug.
  11. IMO the closest to "perfect" players are: ARod, M.Cabrara, and Pujols. Great hitters and very good on defense. The rest have their goods and bads and you determine if that will help your team or not. Add David Wright to that list if you're going to put Miggy on there. Miggy's done it for a bit longer, but you're probably right.
  12. No brainer. Lugo/Giles. CPatt already showed Lugo/Furcal are comparable, or close to it. I challenge anyone to show me how Encarnacion has near the value of Giles.
  13. That's right. Not to hijack, but what's the reason for that rule?
  14. How about Hill and Pawelek for Dunn? Maybe add one more mid-level prospect. They save a ton of money and got two high-potential lefties. Clear a slot in the OF. Is that enough to get it done?
  15. My brother asked if drunk-Mongo actually filmed that clip.
  16. I was there, too. I was so amped up walking home. Great find.
  17. A little national, ESPN love for the Bulls. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime-051110
  18. That Mossi character is an abomination.
  19. fantastic work. Seriously.
  20. Would we expect his power numbers to drop if he moved from Yankee stadium full time? I haven't watched him play enough to know if he abused that short porch in right, or if he used the whole field.
  21. Walker for Crisp or something like that.
  22. Too bad the Sun Times doesn't actually fill out the lineup on a daily basis. I wrote that hoping the writer has some insider knowledge on how the roster will be used.
  23. Walker is one of Hendry's key trading chips this winter, with rookie Ronny Cedeno expected to be the Cubs' starting second baseman in 2006. They have RC penciled in to start. Good news.
  24. If that is the reason, it does nothing to instill faith that we're in the right GM's hands.
