  1. Can't hit layups, won't win the game.
  2. I hardly think KU's been the benficiary of foul calls. Doesn't matter. UCLA's played better regardless.
  3. Hopefully we won't let you down, but KU is a better team. I also have 7 out of 8 Elite 8 teams - missed on Memphis (sadly, I had Texas A&M all the Final Four). I don't know; you're more battle tested. Can you give me a breakdown for tomorrow's game?
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2810182 Julian Wright will return for his junior year according to today's report from ESPN.com.
  5. I perviously used "Tipsy Tony" in this thread. Falling asleep at the wheel and drinking are very bad things. Hasn't he had problems with drinking in the past? I've got one: Pretentious Drunk Pr**k too long?
  6. so, Raisin, break down the matchups for me. I haven't seen UCLA play enough to know them real well. I figure we've got an advantage down low, and you've got a slight advantage in guard play. Key Matchups: Afflalo vs. Rush Collison vs. Robinson KU's frontcourt vs. UCLA's
  7. Bill Self will not miss on this kid. I had heard too that he was signed, sealed, delivered KU, but in the last couple days it's come out that Self is offering someone else too, or that something that Self has done recruiting-wise may steer Releford away from Lawrence. I'm not a scout subscriber so I don't know the exact details. EDIT: Looks like Self is after Willie Warren, and for whatever reason that means Releford isn't as likely. That is Self's MO. He has offered the other kid now and Releford will see this and probably be forced to decide sooner. I imagine Releford commits soon. I think we'll get both. It's the 08 class, right? Wright, Rush, Chalmers, Robinson, and maybe Collins will be gone by then. There will be a ton of playing time for both if they want to come.
  8. Probably Wright, I think Rush should too. I think Wright stays. Rush should go, and he probably will. How come? He's a lotter pick, imo. He's said since he stepped on campus he wanted to graduate in 3 years, and he's on schedule to do it. Also, he'll play the 3 in NBA, so he probably needs to develop his shot a bit more. That said, if I were him, I'd be gonzo, and it would hardly be earth-shattering if he decided to forego graduating and enter the draft.
  9. c'mon ACIE.
  10. KU definitely caught some breaks. It happens in every game. Does it suck for SIU? Yeah. But that's how sports work. That's how sports works, but that doesn't mean the refs shouldn't be called on it. Well if UCLA wins I am sure that situation will reverse in the next round. It shouldn't, but probably will. You saying UCLA will get the calls over KU? I haven't watched enough UCLA to know if they're one of those teams (a la Duke), but I've never thought they were the overwhelming beneficiary of calls. No I don't thin kthey do, but the game is so close to their campus. I would imagine it will play a factor. I think the pecking order usually goes Duke, Kansas, everyone else. I've never thought KU was the regular beneficiary of calls, but I might be a bit biased. I'd put UNC ahead of them, though. That most recent possession in the aTm game was insane.

That's how sports works, but that doesn't mean the refs shouldn't be called on it. I agree. Refs should be held accountable for mistakes. And I don't blame any SIU fan for being PO'd. We've all been on both ends of the stick here. I'm just glad I'm on the good end for once.
  13. Probably Wright, I think Rush should too. I think Wright stays. Rush should go, and he probably will.

  15. I know you don't want to hear it, but IMO, you were no worse than the 3rd best team we played this year. Probably the second best. (ahead of aTm, behind Florida.) That's a fun team to watch, unless your team is playing them. Great game.
  16. why do you say that? i dont know much about your team. Kansas is the best 1 seed for us for a variety of reasons, but mainly the height factor. I feel like our defense can hopefully shut down your guys' athleticism. Oden would more than likely have a field day against our short front line, Florida's big guys would kill us as well, and UNC is the best team in the country in terms of getting out on the break and scoring points. It should be a good game. I feel pretty confident that we will give you guys everything that you can handle :D i don't doubt it. your d is supposedly amazng Yeah, but can they score enough to play with you guys? If they can and pull the upset Lowery is on everyone's short list. I don't know. There's a lot written about SIU's D, but statistically, we beat them in every category except Opponent's points per game. That's not surprising since they slow the game to a crawl and limit possessions. We hold teams to lower FG%, though. They aren't tall, and they don't rebound that well, so that works in our favor. But they're tough and tenacious. They're just the type of team that I could see beating us.
  17. ozzie is trash. he's perfect for that organization.

  20. belated: Yay! We made it to the second round. Kentucky is a tough 2nd round matchup, but we should beat them. Gotta find a way to control Randolph Morris.
  21. For anyone interested, both the KC Star and the NY Times ran similar stories on Sherron Collins's (KU's frosh pg) escape from the Chicago projects. I think the KC Star one is better, but both are good. I know a lot of the UI fans are po'd a him for going to KU, but it's hard to root against a kid who's been through so much. Anyway, here you go. Registration might be required, though your chicagosports.com handle/password should get you into the KC star one. KC Star NY Times
  22. louisville putting stanford in a clown suit so far
  23. i was thinking the same thing. I think that same thing every day, though.
  24. I've got FLA, KU, aTm, Gtown with KU over Gtown. Homer city, and not ashamed. I'll never pick against my team. Must be why I never win.
