  1. Well I would like to see it cause we made it that far extending our 25 win season streak. But, I think they will destroy us. I wish we could have gotten that game two years ago. You know the kids Bill left playing against him. Self couldn't make it out of the first round in 2005. Hard to meet your old team when you can't get up and beat a 13 seed or something. I'm pretty sure I have a rematch of the National Title game of...Football for me. This time I have the Buckeyes taking it. Not sure how 2005 is relevant to this year. There isn't one remaining player from that season. I'd say 06 is pretty irrelevant, too. We were basically all freshman. I'm pretty sure I responding to someone talking about Illinois and Kansas meeting in 2005. Yea. So thats how its relevant. In response. To what that guy said. ahhh. reading comprehension is awesome. I probably should've read all the quote boxes to understand the context.

  3. assuming KU wins the first round (cue jokes), that second round game really scares me. Kentucky and Nova (especially Nova) are dangerous. I don't know if I can emotionally handle losing early in this tourney.
  4. sounds like easy pickins
  5. Yes, but can he read? What's the indication with early entrance for Rush and Wright? Is Wright for sure gone? Is Rush staying another year? Wright has said since he got here he was staying for three years (he's on track to graduate in 3.) He has consistenly reaffirmed that. But with a deep tourney run...? Who knows. I think with a good tourney showing Rush is definitely gone. Other than that, it probably depends on his draft projection. If he's a guaranteed 1st rounder, I think he'll probably go. And yes, he can read. He reminds me a lot of Deng in terms of his build and athletic ability. I really had not seen him play very much until yesterday and came away very impressed. are you talking about wright or rush? The big difference between wright anf deng is that wright isn't much of a natural scorer. (ie no shot.)

  7. also, today was an example of why Brandon Rush will be a solid NBA player. He may never be the prolific scorer people expected, but he plays tremendous defense, and he has the ability to go for 25 points on a given night. I'm so happy with how he's turned out. There were a lot of whispers about him being a bad kid, but he's really been great, both on and off the court.
  8. UNC has 2 more losses and is 7-3 in it's last 10. UF has one more loss, is also 7-3 in their last ten, including one loss to a non-tourney team. They also lost to KU head-to-head. The SEC is only marginally better than the big XII. KU is on a 11 game winning streak. Only one loss to a non-tourney team all season. And anyone who watches any games knows they're playing better than both UNC and UF. If you want to give UNC a higher 1 seed due to playing in the ACC, then whatever. The UF is inexcusable.
  9. we should be, at worst, the #2 1 seed. If OSU gets the MW, we should've gotten the south.
  10. I just got home from work. KU got jobbed. How are we the 4th 1 seed? How is Fla the overall 1? The West bracket? we got hosed.
  11. just a couple of snarky comments between internet friends. no harm meant.
  12. Nice to know you have magical insights into the future. The fact is that, other than a #16 seed beating a #1 seed, anything can and has happened in the tournament. Well, Kansas is a 1 seed this year. if only we had UI's storied history of deep tourney runs.
  13. I don't understand how KSU and Purdue have sealed the deal. I mean, if they weren't in before, why does winning a game against a bubble team(Iowa wasn't really even a bubble team either) put you in? I see it if KSU beat aTm, or if Purdue knocked off Wisconsin, but I think this is a case of overemphasizing the conference tourneys. KSU finished 4th in the Big 12, and this confirms that they are a top 4 team. How could they not be in? The Big 12 is deserving of at least 4 teams... The thing I wonder is if this loss keeps Tech from getting in? They have some big wins this year. the committee, allegedly, will take imbalanced schedules into account. Thus, KSU's place in the standings does not mean they automatically get in over TT, as Tech placed 5th playing a much tougher schedule and had some high-quality wins. (2 over aTm and one over KU.) I saw this game as a must win for KSU, not so for TT. TT will have to sweat a bit more, but they still might get in, and it could be at KSU's expense.
  14. I think KSU went from probably out to probably in, but they still shouldn't be too comfy on selection sunday. If They beat KU tomorrow, definitely in.
  15. The amazing thing is that nobody knew it-Conley was seen as good, but really just a throw-in. He is much, much better than I expected as a freshman from reading about him during his high school days. He was that good in HS too. I saw one of their games on TV last year, and he was more impressive than Oden to me. Oden obviously looked dominant, but when you are 7'1" going against guys 6'8" and smaller, that's usually how it works. Conley played guys who were at least his peer athletically, but he was just much better than them. In high school Mike Davis sent Mike Conley a recruiting letter addressed with Sheron Collins' name. That is clutch. are you serious?
  16. UCLA's resume is the best out there. they defintiely deserve a one, IMO.
  17. Green shot below 37% from the field last year... not too hot. And Brewer is not a guard. Even if they do have some good guards, the two best players on that team are Horford and Noah. Brewer is a small forward, and he plays on the outside. IMO, players like him and Brandon Rush are smalls, not bigs. And I'm not saying the smalls have to post big numbers for the team to win; they do have to be a threat to keep the other team honest. And If you have no one to pass the ball to Horford and Noah, your team won't win.
  18. 22% were 3's, and he took many, many 15-18 foot jumpers in that tournament. He was a wing player-he did not play inside very much at all. He must have been a hell of a player to finish 3rd in the conference in rebounds per game (10.0) and average 3 offensive rebounds per game while "not playing inside very much at all". And 22% of your shots for three is not a lot. 67% of Gerry McNamara's shots were from beyond the arc. THAT is a lot. Gerry Mac was the reason they won that title game. He hit 6 threes in the first half. Without him, KU wins. And it's sill to say FLA didn't have good guards last year. Green and Humphrey (especially green) are excellent players. Corey Brewer, too. Bottom line is, you have to have some balance to win it, but I think guards are sightly more important. Even when you do have a dominant big, you need an effective gaurd to get him the ball and to keep the opposing D honest (ie. not collapsing on the big man.)
  19. One more reason to be glad Olver Miller no longer plays college hoops. Those unis are not fat guy friendly.
  20. NPOY should be Durant, no questions asked.
  21. Yep, the only team they've played in two months is Gonzaga, who they barely beat. And Gonzaga was just discussed as a team not worthy of an at large. I wonder where they get seeded. I agree on Memphis. But they will be at least a 2-seed simply because they will breeze thru their conference tourney, while teams like Wisconsin, UNC, Texas A &M, Texas, and others all have to get thru other top 15 teams in order to win their conference tourney. 1's- Ohio St, UCLA, Florida, Kansas 2's- Memphis, Texas A &M, Wisconsin, Georgetown (because I think they win the conf tourney) 3's- Washington St., Louisville, UNC, Maryland (because I think they win the conf tourney) 4's- Texas, So. Illinois, Nevada, Marquette (because they go further than Pitt or ND in the tourney) I doubt UNC drops to a three, unless they bow out in thier first game of the ACC tourney. I'd probably swap them w/ Gtown in your seedings. Also, if Texas goes to the Big XII championship game (which would require they beat A&M), I think they'll be a 3 seed.
  22. I think I've got the game plan down. 1. Beat Baylor 2. Have Berardini take out Durant at the knees(John Cheney old school) 3. Pray that OSU and Texas Tech take out kU and aTm 4. If not, repeat #2 with Anderson Jr. on Law and Dandridge on Julian Wright Your plan is flawed. Julian Wright is made out of rubber. He has no knees.
  23. as usual, i have to work during the game. good luck (not really). If we win, we should lock up a 1 seed in the ncaas, too.
  24. oh good, now the post-dispatch will be able to talk about how awesome he is for "playing through the pain" all season Why on earth do you care so much? If some retards in the press want to act like he is anything more than a decent baseball player that is their problem. Just turn the channel or don't read the article. probably because it perpetuates the myths so many of the sabremetric folks despise so much. He's a mediocre player whose reputation outstrips his talent based largely on intangible attributes (scrappiness, heart, etc.). A lot of people here would like to see that line of thinking go away, party because they philosophically disagree with it so much, and partly because our GM still subscribes to the "gamer" philosphy, and it drivs most of us crazy.
