  1. From April. Quoted soley for the purpose of self-torture.
  2. Then we'll be fresh out of pennants in another 50 years or so. I love this team!
  3. In 1990, a "1989 NL Eastern Division Champions" flag flew with Banks' number on the left field foul pole throughout the season. In 2004, the NL Central flag flew in the same spot on Opening Day but wasn't seen again. If the pattern held, we'd see a proper "pennant" on the foul pole for a season (or a day) and then they'd add the simple roof banner. There is a rooftop flag for each post-1904 postseason berth. They don't indicate championships or levels of advancement. The "1908' flag looks just like the "1998" flag. The original design for the new bleachers included flagpoles that presumably would have held flags for all the pennants and division titles since 1876, but the latest changes wiped them out. That would have been a laugher. "18xx" flying high atop the stadium. Would have been good for a laugh for opposing teams watching a pathetic franchise trying to celebrate anything they can. Grasping at straws, really. I tend to agree, but at what point is something too old to recognize?
  4. http://www.dailyherald.com/dow_photos/2/spr_WSoxGuillencolor03%5Bf%5D.jpg Ass.
  5. You called?
  6. I've said it many times before ... that organization is the pits. You won't find a more vile class of people anywhere in the world of sports.

  8. "Dude, gimme another Shiner Bock."
  9. Sure they would. This is the team that was doing all it could to get three .500+ seasons in a row, you know they would acknowledge making the playoffs two straight seasons - wildcard or not - in a flashy manner. Did you see the banner? "Back to Back Wild Card Champs" - it was too ridiculous to believe. Too ridiculous for the Cubs even. I don't doubt that the organization would trumpet the achievement of two straight playoff berths - hell, it's a big deal for anyone outside of Atlanta, Boston and New York - but the Cubs had sense enough not to fly a "1998 Wild Card Champions" flag in 1999, and I think they'd have sense enough not to father the kind of silly display seen today in Houston. The "Wild Card Champion" title's legitimacy is dubious at best. The proper term is "Wild Card Winner," but that just doesn't look good on shirts and whatnot.
  10. My God, that's awesome.
  11. Everyone in the park knew that was a fool's move. It happened again and again this season, yet Hendry seems completely happy with letting it happen all over again next year.
  12. Maybe NSBB should start a "ticket broker" service for White Sox fans. All of us could buy up all the White Sox playoff tickets and then sell them to White Sox fans at tens times face value. :D Had I known they'd wind up playing Boston I would have snatched up a truckload. I couldn't get past visions of me being left high and dry with a stack of worthless Sox-Angels tickets.
  13. the organization makes a huge deal out of the fact that we can draw 3 million people to the park each year. If we ever happened to have back to back WC winning seasons, I'd be willing to bet that the organization would make a huge deal of making the playoffs 2 years in a row. Sure, but they wouldn't hang a banner the size of some NCAA scoreboards trumpeting the fact that the Cubs were the best second place team two years in a row. Most teams don't even count wild card berths in their "champs" tally. The Cubs made a big deal about 3 million last year. I don't recall a peep this year.
  14. Who the hell hangs a "back-to-back Wild Card Champs" banner? As pathetic as we are, I can't see the organization making that big a deal of it if were we in the same spot.
  15. 154 games for Neifi this season. So we've basically spotted the opposition three runs 154 times this year.
  16. It's really tragic the way this thing collapsed. At least I can look forward to thousands of longtime White Sox fans being unable to attend LDS games because of the flood of well-heeled Boston backers already on their way to Chicago. Buy 'em up dudes.
  17. I think Brenly has all kinds of anti-Dusty venom at the ready. We need to give him an outlet.
  18. Let him hit with a runner in scoring position, leave him in the game to surrender the lead, and then take him out. Dusty 101. That buffoon has to be stopped. Does Hendry not watch the games?
  19. And another great season of Neifi Perez baseball comes to a close. Dusty Baker has really shafted the Phillies today.
  20. It's better than being a Cubs' fan and seeing those Baker lineups day in and day out. :x That goes without saying, dude.
