The Sox are a more direct rival than the Cards could ever hope to be. As I've said before - if they win, we'll feel it in every aspect of the organization. The Cubs and Sox battle every freaking day of the year for ticket sales, merchandise income, public perception and corporate sponsorships. Every dime spent on the Sox is likely one that would have been spent at Wrigley had this sham of a postseason never occured. I don't think the Sox will take over the town or run us out of business if they win - but in any case, that trophy parade would be a costly one for the Chicago National League Ball Club, Inc. That doesn't even take into account the coming rain of abuse from the Sox' band of freaks.
