  2. Every time? :P http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/images/2005/03/29/ePZcsduK.jpg That's from Spring Training. Do they get to choose in the exhibitions?
  3. That's a wldly superstitious and irrational thing to ask to be taken seriously True, but we'd all be better off if those shirts were sent to hell.
  4. That was in '95; that game set off the winning streak that had us in contention for the wild card going into the last weekend.
  5. I highly doubt that our GM uses it to weigh making a deal.
  6. This disappointing news has already been reported in another thread.
  7. I see that some people are upset over the relentless criticism of Baker, Neifi and Macias. Why?
  8. I'm voting the same, and my examples are the New England Revolution and the Orlando Magic. Utah Jazz wtf. New York Liberty. Pathetic.
  9. Damn shame, I always liked Jim. Don't. Reinsdorf made money hand over fist and will invest very little of it back into the team. He's just about a big of a scumbag as you'll find in MLB ownership, and considering his peers, that's really saying something. Truth.
  10. I thought TPTB might be considering a return to the navy blue when the latest BP shirts came out, but that's gone nowhere.
  11. Isnt there a team already occupying Boston? Guess not... Yeah I can't think of a worse idea. There isn't a fan base less likely to embrace a second team. They'd get 2000 people a game until the cross town interleague series which would sell out. Were it not for the robust resistance from the current NY and Boston ownership groups, I imagine baseball would jump at the chance to add new outlets in two of the most wealthy, media-saturated, baseball-hungry markets on the planet. But that's just me.
  12. http://reds.enquirer.com/2002/12/29/photos/aerial/images/aerial03.jpg It figures.
  13. Send the Devil Rays to New Jersey and the Marlins to Boston. It'll never happen, but that would go a long ways toward eliminating some of the game's competitive imbalance issues.
  14. Sell your tickets in the spring or don't sell them at all. Would you be interested in selling your rights? What row are your seats in?
  15. Big Wayne has effectively banned the Marlins from acquiring a lease extension at Dolphins Stadium, but I saw that as little more than a Loria-orchestrated ploy to generate a sense of urgency in the community. Can't say that I blame them, though; that is a horrible market and a horrible ballpark.
  16. Braves games to nearly disappear from WTBS WGN and WTBS, at the behest of MLB, have generally gone together down the path of fewer national games in recent years. This could portend more dissatisfaction for Cub fans who rely exclusively on WGN for their Cubs fix. My advice: get your dishes up and running. MLB's small-timers won't be pleased until every last "injustice" is righted in the realm of out-of-market fan generation.
  17. Good. It's time I moved up in line.
  18. Drugs? I'll grant that there are people in this world who would be offended by the polls, as you can always find someone to get in a fuss over anything. I question whether or not that type of person is at the core of this site's audience, and disagree with the repeated characterization of poll participants as outlaws.
  19. Why allow a social forum? Why have a rants forum? Why allow anything not baseball related? 70% of the posts on this board aren't 'necessary'. But the HCP were fun, just like a lot of the non-baseball aspects of this board. Can you justify that anything is necessary on this board? I'm still waiting for the justification that it needed to be cancelled. It was offensive to some and a divisive presence on the board. that's pretty good justification to take it off. The other things you mention aren't. Over half of the posts in Rants are offensive to somebody in the community, and most of those concern subjects that are actually worthy of a big fuss. Those battles will rage on, yet the harmless HCP has been snuffed.
  20. Apparently so. There's a rather detailed discussion of sexuality in Rants that is decidedly adult in nature, yet that goes on unabated. I don't understand why some plainly adult discussions are allowed to flourish while the whole HCP was obliterated, right down to the fracking cartoon edition.
  21. Why would we want him here? What in the world would we ask him about that wasn't somehow related to his colossal failure to build on the success of 2003? What in the world would we ask him about that wasn't somehow related to his ridiculous fascination with Dusty Baker, Neifi Perez and Jose Macias?
