He seems smug, and I feel for him, sort of. However, he can't spend his way out of this, even though that would make the team better in the near and midterm. Given the boundaries, it's his job to put the pieces together, and he hasn't done it well. He's not awful, but he's not good.
When he leaves, we will see him in a different light—I think that depends on who they find to replace him. Andrew Freedman can run a small organization as well as a large one, and I don't think Carter Hawkins is all that much, either.
