  1. That’s my guess
  2. This is the money line It’s the kids’ team. Jed is a company man through and through, but he’s going out with a message that he did they best he could given what he was allowed to have.
  3. One foot out the door
  4. Workman and Smith are not comparable. The Cubs desperately needed a Tucker-type player, AND they gave up a good player to get him. Shitting on Smith because he hasn't paid his dues doesn't change the equation. The Astros are not a poorly run organization.
  5. Blah, blah, blah horsefeathers blah.
  6. lol. It’s not hindsight if someone is talking about now. Obviously no one ever got rich betting on baseball prospects. But the Astros and the Cubs both think Smith is a fine prospect as do a lot of others who evaluate for a living. It’s a trade the Cubs had to make due to their poor performance in developing talent. That doesn’t lesson the sting if Smith explodes or even becomes a solid everyday starter. If Tucker has a great season and they choose not to resign him or make a half hearted effort like they usually do and Smith flames out, that’s about the best they can hope for. The Cubs needed and still need sluggers. They are a collection of solid starters who need a star or two.
  7. I just watched a video of Smith getting the call in locker room. Talk about a teary eyed feel good moment.
  8. I'm not worried about anything until mid May. A lot of these guys are "working" on a pitch and they don't care about the outcome. They may throw the same pitch in the same location three times in a row and whatnot. Also, it's the end of camp, and not a lot of motivation about the game with travel plans and family settlement. It's time to start playing for real.
  9. Pressly getting beat bad.
  10. I was at the Mets games in Shea when Brazille hit the HR and Hawkins threw the game away. I met CTCubs fan at that game, lol. He's probably a lawyer now with his own family.
  11. They've had mostly AAA players in the lineup since they got back.
  12. Cubs will be on TV today. Everyone is tanned, rested, and ready.
  13. I saw Chourio is hitting close .500 this spring.
  14. They know eyes are going to the NCAA tournament. Who gives a horsefeathers? Give Mic Gilespie a T1 line and a monitor. some people want to watch meaningless baseball.
  15. Yes, they’ve really cut down. I mean if you don’t want to pay JD and whoever just get one guy from a minor league affiliate to do pbp from his house. Cheap ass bush league stuff.
  16. Alabama State
  17. lol. You shouldn’t compare those two players. I also think it would be a mistake to promote Smith to MLB at this time. But he’s a legitimate star prospect
  18. Horton out. According to the announces he was working in the mid 90s and topped out at 96. Had a good couple of innings, one walk I think
  19. Horton is pitching too
  20. Padres radio team. listening to Gwynn Jr sounds so much like his father.
  21. I mean, it's not outrageous if he blows up this year and the Cubs let Tucker walk. He destroyed everything last year in the brief time he was in the organization. Before anyone wants to misconstrue or mischaracterize what I'm saying, I understand why they traded him for Tucker and the risk/reward equation. They had to find a run producer and they found about the best one they could.
  22. This is a tough one. Batting gloves so not Allou, lol.
  23. I'm still not sure why this is all that important.
