    If there ever was a thing as a streaky hitter, he is it. Reminds me of how Soriano would go unconscious for a few weeks and then strike out three times a game for half a month.

    IF, (big if), they extend Tucker and PCA hits for more power and either Alcantara or OWNKC establishes contact and power, Nico is a perfect fit on the team. People sometimes make too much out of the defensive metrics, but having Nico, Swanson, and PCA up the middle makes the pitching better. It's sort of a force multiplier. If none of the above happens, they can't keep him.

    I know the site is officially against mega threads, but I think a thread is needed to discuss the season as it flows along. Mods, please delete if not appropriate. Anyway, the Cubs are coming out of a brutal schedule in fine fashion. They do have some readily apparent weaknesses, but they look like a contending club at this point. When I say contending, I mean for the World Series, not the division. Strengths- the bottom of the order Weaknesses- bullpen walks. 3B. Shaw not having a ST really hurt his beginning of the season and it showed. I'm hoping he gets back to form and is called up by the end of May. If not, they need to make a trade before July. I like this team a lot. They need some SLG off the bench and Dansby needs to do something at the plate. So far so good.

    I think there is some middle ground where a player who is not a superstar (yet) has to decide on security vs risk. It's up to the individual. If I were a player who was really good and didn't have Boars as an agent, I would use him. But If I were a regular player, not an all-star, I don't know that I would use Boras. I don't think the point of the article was to say that Boars is bad for baseball, but to point out that the model is evolving. We will see what happens wth the CBA. Tom's post is not wrong, it's merely annoyingly written in his jazz scat way.

    I listen to Pat and Ron whenever possible. I don't care much for Boog either. When Pat retires or dies, I'm going to be very sad. It's like listening to an old friend.
