Yes he can. What bigger trade can the Cubs make without making them worse? If they trade Lee, Aramis, Z, or Hill at best they can hope to get the same level of potential production. None of the prospects are all that attractive, except for Pie (who doesn't love Pie?). They don't have a whole lot to bargin with. Who are they going to get with DeRosa + prospects? Marmol + prospects? DeRosaa + Marmol + prospects? Why does Fukudome need a caddy? Honestly I don't pretend to know other than it's fun to speculate what they can get for X and Y players. There are other GMs and scouts that may see something in a Cub player young or old that would help their team. Somebody could be making a salary dump that we don't know about and Hendry does and he's involved in talks with them and has to acquire a player first (possibly Matsui) to cover himself. I'm not a big Hendry fan but this just doesn't add up. I agree. But a lot of what Hendry does doesn't add up. It seems to me that he is the eternal optimist, always preparing for the best case and not recognizing the worst case. If the price of Fukudome (who is 30 BTW) includes Kaz Matusi for 3 years that price is too high, IMO>
