  1. Still got it wrong. :P Try it with... http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3369/cisforfh2.gif Nope. queue. Nope. Cue My spelling is that of a not-so-well educated 3rd grader, but my vocabulary is pretty good. A queue is a line of people A cue is an antecedent to respond O_O wins
  2. If the Cubs get him I am trademarking the name: "The Great Kazuo" TM The Great Gazoo
  3. I'm still waiting to read some smack talk. What they hell is a J-hawk anyway? And what about those red-legs? What is the matter with Kansas? The only thing dumber than a mizzou grad is a bag of hammers. There.
  4. Is this smack talk or trash talk?
  5. The question is why should it be a banned substance? It's a bigger issue than sports though. The puppets that control most legislators want to invade the privacy of the average worker for no good reason. Well, the reason is actually a good one, they can keep wages low and workers scared. I know of no evidence that shows drug testing increases productivity or results in fewer work related accidents. It is however, good for the bottom line especially when the worker has to pay for the drug test. If a guy is doing drugs at work or comes in high, fine fire him. The same is true if he's drinking. But what a person does on his or her own time is their own business and has no bearing on work unless the said drug is a PED.
  6. Link So, The Cubs are trading Murton Dempster Marshall Cedeno Ohman For Church and Drew? Not out of the realm of possibility, but that seems like a lot to give up.
  7. That would be awesome. Hendry could pay them in bums who hang around Wrigley. I imagine that Ronny Woo Woo would be first.
  8. What is the fetish with LH hitting? The Cubs desperately need players who can get on base. They desperately need a difference maker. It does not particularly matter what side of the plate he hits from. Someone please explain to me the need for a lefthanded power bat. Is it baseball conventional wisdom? Is it a ture need? I'm I going crazy?
  9. Yes he can. What bigger trade can the Cubs make without making them worse? If they trade Lee, Aramis, Z, or Hill at best they can hope to get the same level of potential production. None of the prospects are all that attractive, except for Pie (who doesn't love Pie?). They don't have a whole lot to bargin with. Who are they going to get with DeRosa + prospects? Marmol + prospects? DeRosaa + Marmol + prospects? Why does Fukudome need a caddy? Honestly I don't pretend to know other than it's fun to speculate what they can get for X and Y players. There are other GMs and scouts that may see something in a Cub player young or old that would help their team. Somebody could be making a salary dump that we don't know about and Hendry does and he's involved in talks with them and has to acquire a player first (possibly Matsui) to cover himself. I'm not a big Hendry fan but this just doesn't add up. I agree. But a lot of what Hendry does doesn't add up. It seems to me that he is the eternal optimist, always preparing for the best case and not recognizing the worst case. If the price of Fukudome (who is 30 BTW) includes Kaz Matusi for 3 years that price is too high, IMO>
  10. I would feel better about dealing Lee if the Cubs had: A) another power bat B) Someone capeable of playing 1st base who wasn't out of positon C) higher team OBP Lee is more important to the Cubs than he would be to most other teams for reasons A and C.

  12. I don't see how that disqualifies Army-Navy. There are all kinds of repercussions outside of the game that occur all of the planet (wherever Army and Navy people are stationed) that don't have anything to do with the beauty contest people call the BCS. Army-Navy transcends the sport more than any other single sporting event transcends its sport except for the World Cup Socer final.
  13. What in God's green earth are the Cubs going to do with five middle infielders? I think someone mentioned this yesterday; If Fukudome needs a baby tender that much the Cubs could hire him a personal assistant for $75 K (that's about 200,000,000 yen). Jesu Christi, I the Cubs annoy me. Seriously, this has to be the dumbest move in the long line of dumb moves exhibited by Hendry (if it is true).
  14. A university of Memphis football player was shot and killed in his car by his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend and two others. He had @$10,000 on him at the time. Supposedly from casino winnings.
  15. They sure did move fast back in the day.
  16. Connect the dots or paint by numbers?
  17. Hopefully they are considering him regardless of what they do with Hill.
  18. I know you hate Notre Dame, but this is ridiculous. ND has at least two rivals - USC and Michigan. Maybe to ND and their fans, but not so much for the other team and their fans. That's the thing, my defineiton of a rivialry must include both teams (a) with a history, (b) a history that includes many important games, and © a history that includes some level of enmity. ND-Michigan is traditionally at the begining of the year, is out of conference, and aside from the John Carney kick hasn't included much in the way of drama. ND-USC is out of conference and the fate of the two teams is many times decided before the game begins. I don't think many USC teams have prepared their season to play ND. They are out of conference games. While USC/ND is out of conference, it's ludicrous to say their fates are decided before the game. I couldn't tell you the exact number, but USC and ND have played many a game in the rivalry where one team ruins the other's national title hopes and/or sends themselves on to one. 1964, 1973, 1977, 1988, and 2005 are five good examples of USC and ND ruining each other's title hopes, and in the last four cases, the winning team went on to play for a title of their own. One could say that about any team who plays a team who is going for a national title. If that is your definition, Illinois-OSU and Michigan State-OSU are big rivalrys. Live the dream!
  19. It's easier to spend money when it's your daddy's too! That's where George got his too, from his dad. In fact that is the main reason why most people are wealthy in the first place. Not rich, wealthy.
  20. After reading the thread I'd put Mizzou-Kansas under the least know nastiest rivalry. I cannot believe that people would wear those t-shirts. Although I have seen quite a few "Ann Arbor is a whore" t-shirts on the OSU campus. I've also seen Brutus the Bukeye recieving felatio from a Michigan cheer leader t-shirts too. Columbus can be a scary place sometimes.
  21. I believe what he's trying to say is that if he takes that word, and not only acknowledges it, but promotes it as his album cover, he is accepting it. And thus, that word no longer has any power because it no longer hurts him. At least, that's what I got from it That reminds me of Clerks 2 when Randal wanted to take back "[expletive]" and wrote it on the back of his shirt. Jay-Z is right. Words are completely arbitrary, their meaning is found in how people respond to the word. Nas cannot take back a word anymore than he can take back hate some people have of him. All he is doing is further dividing American culture that is already fractured too much.
  22. Meanwhile, under the Golden Dome every coach and every team is measured by Knute and Ara and their teams. ND has done a lot to create their singularity in college football. It is the singularity that keeps them from having a true rival. In a real sense they are their own rival, "Wake Up the Echos" and whatnot.
  23. I think that was Auggie Doggie. His bizarre hatred seemed to be a mitigating factor in his later banning as well.
  24. Army-Navy and it isn't particularly close. The game is just part of the deal. I know neither team is a powerhouse but, it really is the best. I encourage everyone to go to a game if they get a chance. Alabama Auburn is probably the nastiest rivalry, followed closely by Texas-Oklahoma. The funny thing about the OSU-Michigan rivialry is that the U of M don't really make a big deal about the game unless it is for the conference championship. OSU defines themself by the game. That is one of the things that infuriates the knuckleheads in Columbus. USC-Notre Dame is not really a rivalry although they play each other every year. ND's only rivial is the ghost of Knute Rockney and Ara Parsegian. I'd say USC-UCLA is a bigger rival than USC-ND.
  25. You would be wrong. Bedard has taken the mantle of best lefty in baseball not named Johan Santana title. MacPhail and company might not be the sharpest tools in the shed. But Kershaw with all his value doesn't equal bedard in a 1 for 1. I don't think MacPhail and Co. think so or he wouldn't be mentioned in trade proposals. I don't know what they are thinking, but I'm glad Andy is no longer the President of the Cubs. I wish he'd a taken his boy Jim with him.
