  2. ha! I remember that guy BREAKING NEWS: I went #2
  3. Your theory may be sound, but nobody (by that I mean ARod) is sensless enough to walk away from that amount of money. This entire thing reminds me of the Rangers preseason press conference with ARod where he was named captian and then was traded. I think ARod and Boras aren't on the same page.
  4. Tripple B, the Cubs didn't get to be this bad by accident or chance. "I think we can compete within the division."
  5. It's also been reported in the Daily Herald.
  6. That shirt is amazing. Reminds me of the student near our section that dressed up like Quantrill for the Kansas game last year. Haha! I love this Kansas T-shirt
  7. I'm not, but Hendry seems to be. I think Lou is an old school guy and wants power from the corners. I don't think they think Murton will hit for enough power. I don't know enough about Fukudome to say one way or the other. I think many people who post here want him because they like his name, it is like a running joke. I'm glad there's not a Dick Steele who's a free ageent.
  8. Every day is something new. Jones for Infante Veal to the bullpen Cedeno to the outfield it is readily appearent that Hendry incapable of thinking strategically. He has no plan and is making things up as he goes along. Meph is right, one has to really try to be this bad.
  9. Cubs swap Jones for Infante, pay Jones Salary - $1M, board jeers So, we trade Jones for Infante an 1 million salary relief...ok, that's dumb. I messed up. The Tigers pay all except 1 million, board mostly jeers.

  11. He'd have to be a throw-in as he doesn't really have much trade value, except to Hendry. He's basicaly a part time utility player. The only saving grace is that he is relatively young.
  12. That's what she said.
  13. if only jose oquendo were available... Fernando Vina still looks in playing shape. I love the dreamy facial hair.
  14. You are easily shocked. If you think Cedeno is worthless, wait until you get a glimpse at Infante.
  15. But will the Cubs acquire him? On a side note, I think this all but rules out k. Matsui, no?
  16. Times change and with every year off of his contract he is that much more attractive as a player. It is why Hendry was able to deal him. I think we all hope Pie will be able to make it.
  17. No. The crappy Omar Infante will probably get 2m in arby. My bad. And what I don't think anyone has mentioned is that Infante, as bad as he is, might be better than Theriot. Any chance he's our starting shortstop next year? He might be better than Theriot, but is he that much better than Theriot to warrent the money? Is he any better than Cedeno? Will he be any better than PIe in CF? I don't know what the Cubs plans are, but I hope they get their "ducks" lined up in the right order. It seems to me that if they trade JJ they will have a glut of middle infielders with little to no trade value. And will be banking on Pie sticking in CF if they don't get Fukudome. Even if they get Fukudome they still will need to do something with RF as I don't think Murton is in Lou's plans. It will be interesing to see how this offseason plays out.
  18. No fair, you stole my comparison before I had a chance to use it. Infante could be a worthwhile gamble, but does anyone else think his value isn't quite at what Jones' is? Please explain to me how Infante is anything like Barrett? Barrett's bat wouldn't play at a corner infield postion and he was athletic enough to move to catcher. Infante's bat isn't even that good for a middle infielder and he's played some in CF. I don't see the comparison. The comparison has nothing at all to do with defense or the positions they play. That what has it do with? Their bats. Help me out then. I still don't see the compairson. MB was one of the best offensive catchers in the NL. Infante has the potential to be one of the best offensive SS/CF/2d in the NL?

  21. I think all these rumors cannot be good for the future of Ronny Cedeno as a Cub. I think he's dealt over the winter. I wouldn't be surprised if Murton and Eric Patterson are traded as well.
  22. What the hell? Matsui and Infante? What did DeRosa do to piss-off Lou and Hendry? Using him as a supersub is just not smart. I just don't get it.
  23. Nothing against your post, but I really don't understand the "given a good look in the spring" comments that people occasionally make. Spring training is about the worst time to do talent evaluation. Players should not lose or win jobs based soley on ST performance. Half the regular major leaguers don't go on the road, then you have split squads, pitchers who are "just trying to get in a little work", and most of the competition will be in the minor leagues. Unfortunately we don't really know what Cedeno, Pie, or Soto will do next year becuase they haven't been given regular playing time*, but based on their performances in the past in AAA they should be given a shot to start, they've earned it. Anyway, the Cubs need to evaluate the talent they have over the winter and deicede what they are going to do via trades, free agents and whatnot and use that as a basis for making decision rather than six weeks of exhibition baseball. *Cedeno has been given more than the others but he was 23 and supposedly somewhat immature (late nights). He's have another decent season in the Winter league.
