  1. Getting Bob Odenkirk on to do a Cubs BCS Q&A
  2. The lady doing color in the booth is on point. I love her baseball analysis.
  3. Last night he threw several fastballs center cut that were either missed or fouled off. He's going to experience regression to the mean if he can't locate pitches better.
  4. It sort of kills me that they are in the top 10 in attendance. They bought a gold mine and are intent on wringing out every last flake of gold. I've tried to separate the team from the owners and compartmentalize as much as possible my love for the Cubs and baseball and the owners. I'm not going to Wrigley, but I'm not going to let them ruin my passion for the Cubs or baseball.
  5. It's crazy/cool that the Twins AAA team is in St. Paul. It would be like the Cubs AAA team playing in Shaumburg.
  6. If you’re on Twitter you probably saw the meet and greet Willy did with the fans today at the shirt store. What a great person. The Ricketts don’t deserve a guy like that. He’s right up there for me with Andre Dawson and Aramis as my favorite Cubs.
  7. Doom, despair, agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery.
  8. The game is on the peacock network which I don’t get. I’m listening to Pat and Ron. Cubs going for a rare sweep.
  9. Are the Nats pushing up the timeline to extend/trade Soto (kind of knowing he’s going to reject extension offers) to get the most value or because they want to make the most money when they sell the team or both?
  10. Steele pitching very well.
  11. 7-1 Cubs on a Wisdom double
  12. Cubs pouring it on. 6-1 on a Niko double.
  13. Phillies throwing the ball around, Cubs up 3-1
  14. Basball and soccer are weak link sports - the value of the team in terms of winning meaning that the good teams have the strongest "weak" links. Basketball is much different. The winning teams are strong link sports - the value of the team in terms of good teams are based on having a few of the best players. That's why a team like the Angles can have the two best players in the league and not win.
  15. This kinda makes the point. As a fan of a team you have to hope to be extremely fortunate with a draft pick, or you're at the whims of whatever a top player feels like doing for his next gig, sometimes both. For me at least it's difficult to be invested in a team that has so little autonomy relative to other sports in its ability to create a championship roster. I get that and mostly agree with it, at the same time it's the best league for its players. The challenge is for capital/management to build an environment where people want to stay and gravitate towards. I can see a situation in the near future where a team offers some small percentage of ownership to high-level influence players. N = 1 basketball is by far my son's favorite sport to watch on TV.
  16. So, who do we want from the Padres for Willson?
  17. This is the pick I’m most excited about. Seriously, he could be the steal of the draft if he can stick at his position.
  18. I think the payout in prospects is going to be more cost prohibitive than the actual dollar figures for Soto + Corbin for most teams. He’s a great player though.
  19. Great story, I wonder if it’s true.
  20. Great questions, I can't wait to see what everyone thinks. The thing that is most interesting to me is that by the looks of the draft they obviously are using some type of empirical basis for their decision-making with regard to pitching metrics and their confidence in developing pitching. Let's hope they one, have found the secret sauce and two, are able to bring it to market.
  21. When is the ETA for Drew Grey to pitch again? Mid season next year?
  22. With how horrible the year has been for the big club, it's been a pretty good year so far in the minors. The needle is definitely pointing in the right direction for the organization.
  23. They're going to convert him to a pitcher, for real.
