  1. The commercial breaks are in the same spots they always are - between innings and pitching changes - so I don't think that part's an issue. Like you, I remain skeptical that casual fans are waiting to watch baseball in droves if the games are two and a half hours 162 times a year instead of three, but as long as the actual gameplay isn't being negatively affected I'm not against it. Now that the DH is universal, an idea I like is cut down the batting orders to 8 guys. Then you can DH for a position player if he’s a horsefeathers hitter but good fielder. Also it increases PA’s for the star players and should have more action then since you don’t have the horsefeathers backup catchers or whatever of the world taking 3-5 PAs a game. That's one the worst ideas I've ever read.
  2. that's super interesting. Do you have any articles that talk about this? I've always been a QB and lines (O and D) guy in terms of constructing a football team. I don't know how that would be provable in any data-based way but it sort of makes sense when so much of the offense is based on passing. Good coverage leads to sacks and incomplete passes.
  3. At his age, he will likely retire. I wouldn't sign him to any contract whatsoever.
  4. dead (big) cat bounce.
  5. I have a few WS friends that are normal otherwise, they hate TLR. I mean the dude fell asleep in the dugout this year. If you can't fire him give him a window seat in upper management.
  6. Also, putting public pressure on the Cubs is nice
  7. 0-0 in the 4th Madrigal is kind of a liability in the field.
  8. Wash just coming her to post a more boring version of that tweet
  9. apologies for the imprecise use of language. I know we are sticklers for precision, especially when it comes to the Cardinals.
  10. Well stop then.
  11. I mean, you literally just did say they aren’t good by calling them the definition of mediocre. You said it a few days ago too. Good meaning good, not mildly good. It's a semantic game. Like 90 wins
  12. 10 games as of right now, but who's counting? I guess it all depends on what you think is a good team. The 2016 Cubs weren't playing teams with a .420 and below winning percentages (in their division). The Cardinals would be in 3rd place in the NL East, 2nd place in the NL West. The only division they would be leading other than the NL Central is the AL Central. They are the king of the dipshits, a wildcard team. The definition of mildly ok. The Braves are 26-28 against teams over .500. The Padres are 20-27, the Phillies are 29-34, the Jays are 34-43 and the Rays are 34-37. All of these teams are currently in the playoffs. Are none of them good either? Who said the Cardinals weren't good? I know It's a common tactic here to move the goalposts in the middle of arguments, but I'm keeping them in place. They are mildly good, the definition of mediocre.

  14. They're 24-28 against teams over .500. Come again? They have a bunch more games against good teams. We'll see how they do. 2016 Cubs: 31-25 against over 500 teams. 72-33 against under 500 teams. Like, you've been around for a while, you have to know this is how this works. 24-28 against teams over .500
  15. I don't know what you are loling about. They are a combined 2 games above .500 playing teams other than the Cubs, Pirates, Brewers, and Reds. You do know most good teams get there by mostly beating the bad teams and not sucking against the good ones? They're 24-28 against teams over .500. Come again? They have a bunch more games against good teams. We'll see how they do.
  16. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised with Girardi in the booth. He's been pretty good with his analysis. Thompson out after 3.75 innings.
  17. Derwood, they are playing in NL Central. They are 30-17 in the division, below .500 against the West, 14-9 against the East, and .500 in interleague. They are a mediocre team. lol, ok I don't know what you are loling about. They are a combined 2 games above .500 playing teams other than the Cubs, Pirates, Brewers, and Reds.
  18. Thompson can only pitch in even innings from here on out.
  19. Mediocre? They're top 5-6 in both run scored and runs allowed. They're pretty clearly a good team Derwood, they are playing in NL Central. They are 30-17 in the division, below .500 against the West, 14-9 against the East, and .500 in interleague. They are a mediocre team.
  20. Infield single by Happ. Cubs up 3-2
  21. Good pick up by the Cubs.
  22. Reyes with a hustle triple off the wall to drive in Seiya.
  23. Seiya with a run scoring double. Madrigal had a hustle single to start the inning.
