  1. I hate everything about the Cardinals, from their smug fans to Tony LaRussa’s four pitcher changes in an inning. Their Pizaa is horsefeathers. I wonder if they know the Lou is slang for taking a horsefeathers.
  2. He's going to be talked about a lot in the offseason when it comes to trades. He's one to dream on.
  3. A great QB can make a mediocre team better. A great coach can make a bad team mediocre. A GM can ruin both by not building an infrastructure to support them. The Bears are trying but I’m not sure Poles is accomplishing it.
  4. Many guys who had once promising careers were injured and their careers ruined. We only see the guys who persevered or were genetically or physically better. Before Tommy John, if a guy blew out his elbow in the minors, that was it. Sandy Kofax only played for 7 years.
  5. Do they still keep data on pitcher abuse points?
  6. Can hit the off-speed stuff. They should never throw him a fastball.
  7. No one answers this question. Why is Palencia pitching in this game?
  8. They look tired to me. They are still playing mostly error free ball and the effort is there. This is on Jed and his people. And to a lesser extent Counsell.
  9. Gore got knocked around good in the first, so at least there is that
  10. Yes, but hindsight is 20/20. Tucker is among a handful of the best at his position. I think a better question, if they fail to re-sign him (if it happens), is, do you think the trade was worth it if you knew you weren't going to be able to re-sign him? A lot depends on how far they go in the playoffs, if they make it.
  11. Milwaukee will cool down or they will walk away with the WS. The Cubs need to play .500 ball and then get hot in the playoffs. Most years, pitching and defense are a winning combination. Maybe Horton is turning a corner. You only need 3 SP in the playoffs. Boyd, Shota, and Horton is not a bad front end of the rotation. I worry about Palancia handling the pressure, but we will see. They didn't meet the deadline expectations, but then again, none of the big players were traded, so the markets were off for everyone. Everyone wants the Cubs to dominate; that would be great.
  12. And they broke the fuckting universe by winning, and here we are dealing with the horsefeathers. They need to restore the universe by winning again and then not again until after I'm dead.
  13. It's the 1% mentality always to want more and better. Not necessarily the Bears, because they do actually need a new venue. But the White Sox? Their park is fine. Most of the other new stadiums are being built for the upper corporate market with boxes and luxury perks, just like the NBA and MLB. Very little is done to enhance the typical fan's experience. It's just money changing hands from one 1%er to another, funded by the taxpayers.
  14. I’m not sure if you think the post is disgusting or the Ricketts are disgusting. But their candidate funding is a matter of public record. As is Papa Joe’s history, aka, the real money behind kids.
  15. It's not a nefarious plot; it's their pattern. I think the Ricketts/Jed are content to offer what they believe is a fair value contract moving forward with an eye to what they think is going to happen after the lockout. I think they believed that if they signed Bregman, he'd not a Cub after 2026.
  16. They were 6 million less on Scott. The Dodgers also gave him $20 million up front and $20 million deferred. They were 10 million less on Bergman, AAV, and gave him an opt-out after 2026. The Red Sox gave him an opt-out and paid him $10 million more. Can we say they were serious? From a conceptual standpoint, I suppose.
  17. You're arguing a position not taken. The fact that they signed Swanson in no way negates the pattern of their behavior. And I don't necessarily think they will let Tucker walk without a significant play for him.
  18. The Ricketts are using the Cubs to finance Wrigleyville and Nazis.
  19. I'm not following this point at all. Given how little money is guaranteed beyond 2026, suggests it's a pattern. The goal is to be in a better bargaining position for free agents/extensions post-strike/lockout. You are talking about a guy/family who, with a straight face, said, "We just want to break even every year".
  20. It's time to start the separation. At this time, good teams tend to step on the gas, so to speak, and put the mediocre and bad teams in the rearview mirror. Lodolo is a good pitcher so this will be a test.
