  1. I think TT is probably close to accurate on the trade front. I don't think trading Stroman or Bellinger is going to net them a game-changing player. Also, if they are buying, I don't think they will be dealing from the top 10 or so. There are a lot of OF redundant prospects, and a few IF and SP. So the way I see it now, buying or selling is nibbling at the margins. I think most people agree that the Cubs are not a strong team, and won't be after the deadline. But if they get into the playoffs, the playoffs are what they are.
  2. God I hate that trade. Hated it then, hate it now.
  3. If he can complete short and intermediate passes it opens up the entire field for both running and long passes. That's what he needs to learn. It's not really a secret but I'll be damned if they haven't figured it out.
  4. Stro can stay another year if he wants to, can't he? I love his athleticism and gamesmanship. I hope they can get something worked out that is mutually agreeable to Stro and the Cubs. It kind of sounds to me like the Cubs are not interested though.
  5. I’m not saying anything. Just making an observation
  6. Always fudging. He’s going to be 22 in October. Best case he sees the majors at 25. The exact age Mervis is.
  7. lol, I appear to have been dead wrong about Horton, so...
  8. If Hawkins and Kantrovitz hit on Wiggins their careers are set. If they don't, it's a gamble that many people will never remember. I think we all want the Cubs to push toward excellence rather than safety, but this pick is a head-scratcher for me. He has one tool, he can throw the ball really hard but has almost no record of success. I assume someone within the organization has followed this kid for a lot longer than any of us and has presented enough information to them to make this seem worthwhile.
  9. It's all speculation. I assume any trade is dependent on who is coming back. If Stro is going to net a better return, he may be more likely to be traded. I have no idea what the case may be.
  10. TDIL: Jay Cuttler is the Bears all-time passing leader. lol
  11. Almost any injury is going to be a mark on the wrong side of the ledger. If it's sack related, he held the ball too long. If it's run-related, QBs are not running backs. He has to show that he can make the routine plays, routine. He has to show the ability to find the open receiver quickly or check down to a different receiver and not look to run first.
  12. Or go on a 15- 35 run to end the season. But really, I don't care if they sell or deal from a strength and buy. Anyone they are looking to trade from the ML roster isn't likely to net them a game-changing player. They need game changers. Their best players under contract for next year are good, not great. They have an entire minor league system full of good, not great players to deal from. They need some stars either through development or FA.
  13. In due time. He still has a lot to learn in regard to controlling the strike zone.
  14. I predicted Augurst.
  15. I don't think that a blanket statement regarding the pick can be made. They are taking a gamble on this kid that his 50th percentile outcome is a major league relief pitcher. Given their pitching-producing engine in the minors, it's a safer bet than most organizations, but it's still a big risk.
  16. TBH, I'd rather they take the 69th pick in next year's draft.
  17. Lead by Elon
  18. If they trade Bellinger I hope it is for a young MLB guy or a guy right on the cusp. Obviously, a high-end prospect. I'm not so sure those types of trades happen any longer. Hoarding prospects appears to be a market inefficiency.
  19. I don't listen, but I imagine it's a lot like Columbus, except they also talk about Auburn too. The only person worth listening to in Columbus was Herbstriet, and they ran him out of town.
  20. Back when I still lived in the area, I always hated this time of year on sports radio. The Cubs and Sox were still playing, but often irrelevant, and 90% of the non-commercial time was devoted to the Bears camp. ESPN and The Score would have quarter-hour reports from Hallas Hall on absolutely nothing and then they would take multiple calls from nutters about what the Bears should do with their third-string running back
  21. Give the 3B job to Morel. offseason 1. extend Bellinger 2. sign Chapman to play 3rd 3. sign Urias. that’s a 90 win team at the start of ST.
