  1. The best thing in the rant was the reference to the obscure baseball player from the turn of the last century.
  2. didn't he use to post here? Also, for the old timers, who remembers "HoopsCubs"?
  3. and the starter out after one pitch. It's not going to happen.
  4. Cards Twitter is still fuming about last night. I wonder if they hit another Cubs player because they are mad at the umps.
  5. I vacillate from one end of the continuum to the other. Right now, I'm in the "they should treat this season like 2015" mode and not do too much damage to the potential future by trading away top-end prospects. But at the same time, the depth of the system makes this course of action probable and perhaps smart.
  6. At the very least one would think that they'd hire a lobbyist, and team of lawyers who could help shepherd them through the financial labyrinth of working with local and state governments. That's the first order of business.
  7. I hate the Cardinals so very much. Their fans, the ballpark. The pizza. It all sucks.
  8. that is not unreasonable given the Cubs resources.
  9. 3 - Off season - resign Bellinger (don't trade Bellinger), sign Chapman, Urias, Maneaea, Soler (DH)
  10. I think TT is probably close to accurate on the trade front. I don't think trading Stroman or Bellinger is going to net them a game-changing player. Also, if they are buying, I don't think they will be dealing from the top 10 or so. There are a lot of OF redundant prospects, and a few IF and SP. So the way I see it now, buying or selling is nibbling at the margins. I think most people agree that the Cubs are not a strong team, and won't be after the deadline. But if they get into the playoffs, the playoffs are what they are.
  11. God I hate that trade. Hated it then, hate it now.
  12. If he can complete short and intermediate passes it opens up the entire field for both running and long passes. That's what he needs to learn. It's not really a secret but I'll be damned if they haven't figured it out.
  13. Stro can stay another year if he wants to, can't he? I love his athleticism and gamesmanship. I hope they can get something worked out that is mutually agreeable to Stro and the Cubs. It kind of sounds to me like the Cubs are not interested though.
  14. I’m not saying anything. Just making an observation
  15. Always fudging. He’s going to be 22 in October. Best case he sees the majors at 25. The exact age Mervis is.
  16. lol, I appear to have been dead wrong about Horton, so...
  17. If Hawkins and Kantrovitz hit on Wiggins their careers are set. If they don't, it's a gamble that many people will never remember. I think we all want the Cubs to push toward excellence rather than safety, but this pick is a head-scratcher for me. He has one tool, he can throw the ball really hard but has almost no record of success. I assume someone within the organization has followed this kid for a lot longer than any of us and has presented enough information to them to make this seem worthwhile.
  18. It's all speculation. I assume any trade is dependent on who is coming back. If Stro is going to net a better return, he may be more likely to be traded. I have no idea what the case may be.
  19. TDIL: Jay Cuttler is the Bears all-time passing leader. lol
