  1. you can't affooordd it, you can't affoorrdd it =D>
  2. plus at hooters you can look at boobs and stuff.
  3. what a boring day, chicago cubs off, tennessee off, and two teams rained out.
  4. i, for one, have been saying for years that one of the cubs' biggest problems is a lack of investment in robots. with the renewed interest from the cubs in pacific rim scouting, maybe robotic investment is the next step perhaps fukudome knows some robots who might be interested in playing for the cubs? in fact, i'm considering the possibility that fukudome is a robot. he's really good and seems well-programmed not to make mistakes.
  5. i'm guessing he was on a prescription list or he was caught in possession of it.
  6. i'd say that detroit and texas are terribly stupid for giving away hamilton and renteria for not much at all.
  7. i'm voting for obama, either as the democratic candidate or as a write-in
  8. i, for one, have been saying for years that one of the cubs' biggest problems is a lack of investment in robots.
  9. Seriously, what the hell. Who taught him how to hit? nobody, he still sucks.
  10. his career numbers are far better as a leadoff hitter than batting anywhere else, which would tend to argue against your point.
  11. how lucky was he that the refs didn't call a technical on him when he slammed the ball down on the court? 99% of the time that's an automatic T.
  12. i was right
  13. donaldson is having a slow start to the year. tony thomas is really raking though. i like him, but i know scouts aren't real big on his tools.
  14. I don't usually do this, but:  1) I never said he should be benched; 2) Comparing him to Aramis and Fukudome is stupid. Roll your eyes all you want. I didn't directly compare him to either player...simply pointing out that "something might need to be done" (and what that possibly means besides playing him less, I have no idea) about a productive and generally reliable player having a couple of unfortunately costly errors this early in the season is pretty much an exercise in futility. Then it looks like you missed the point of my post. If he becomes a butcher at 2B what do we do? I dunno, I am just asking. right, but what are the chances that he pulls a chuck knoblauch and completely forgets how to play defense. he was average to slightly above average defensively last year, and he's projected to become very slightly below average over the next two years. if we're going to ask what happens if he becomes a butcher - say, starts playing like ray durham defensively - then we also might as well ask what happens if ARam starts hitting like eric chavez and derrek lee turns into lyle overbay. those things are about as likely to happen as derosa turning into a butcher.
  15. a better player for about $2.5M less?
  16. good guess - that's pretty much exactly what he was.
  17. put on a cardinal uniform
  18. it'd also be nice if the cubs would stop playing so many close games. i mean, when you get a 7 run lead, ideally you're not going to end up using almost every arm in your bullpen. but, it will be nice when howry gets over his early-season funk and becomes a reliable arm, because right now if you have a one run lead late in the game, you don't want anyone not named wood or marmol coming in the game.
  19. i have a feeling that chris young busts out this year and puts up something like a .270/.350/.540/.890 line this year. he wasn't great last year but i like him a lot.
  20. are you referring to matt laporta? if so, no they didn't. porcello the previous two posts were discussing him ah okay. well a lot of teams passed on porcello for money reasons, not just the cards.
  21. can we put derrick rose and michael beasley on the list, or do we actually have to wait until it's official?
  22. another post that is either sarcasm or completely off base, i can't tell which.
  23. the handwringing about derosa is pointless. he's had a .365 obp and .275 Eqa the past two years, and he plays average defense for a second baseman. if he's only a "utility player" then half of the second basemen in major league baseball also should not be starting. and let's calm down about soriano too, please. he goes through bad stretches every year, but at the end of the year he'll have an ops in the .850 to .900 range and an eqa around .290. he's overpriced and overrated generally, but he's a good player overall at this point in his career.
  24. oh well, i'll have to find out how the cubs lost after my volleyball game.
