  1. that's kinda why i like the question now. i think about 3 years ago the answer would've been pujols or maybe a-rod without much thought, but in 2008 there are a lot of ways you could go with it. a-rod you get the huge production for at least 2-3 years plus a likely big box office draw as he approaches 600, 700 and 800 home runs, plus bonds' record. a-rod's not my pick though. i'll share mine later.
  2. well then let's just make it 1. Jake Long 2. Chris Long and go from there.
  3. No you won't, you already have a team and I'm not sharing. It's been well over 12 hours since this started, and the rules clearly stated the general public can make the pick after that time is up. Therefore, the Miami Dolphins select Chris Long with their first pick. With no surefire number 1 star in the field, the Dolphins select the next best thing, a signable, impact defensive player with pedigree and all the physical skills. The St. Louis Rams are on the clock. reggiemillerrules is up. well wait, was warpticon PM'ed about the start of the draft?

  5. wonder if blanco will play. i know soto is young, but he did catch all 15 innings yesterday.
  6. what an unfair matchup. kershaw should have to pitch from second base to give the tennessee lineup a fighting chance.
  7. The Brewers wouldn't trade anyone to make room, especially Braun or Fielder. If need be, they would move Hart to CF and Braun to RF. That would end up being the worst defensive OF in the majors. but quite possibly the best offensive OF in the majors. With the net result probably being slightly above average. defense is not THAT important.
  8. If you had a MLB franchise and were given your choice of any player in the big leagues, who would it be? For the sake of this discussion, assume that you're the owner of a team with mid- to large-market payroll capabilities. Feel free to take into account salary, age, box office appeal, injury history, etc.
  9. i wonder if they're eating a dog inside that box. you know, cause they're korean and stuff, LOL
  10. apparently the cubs haven't figured out that it's tough to do your job if you're only asked to do it once a week for about 15 minutes.
  11. I don't think so. When I hear the GREAT and FEARED players of this league, Chase Utley is rarely mentioned. Utley is a DAMN good player, but like Derek Jeter, he's slightly overpaid, due to the "GRIT" factor. I said, slightly overpaid, he's more of a $10-12 mill per, and not $13 mill +. are you insane? first of all, people don't talk about utley's GRIT factor much because they don't need to - he's a great player without the GRIT. second, utley not being mentioned among the best great and feared players in the league isn't his fault. his line last year was .332/.410/.566 which, the last time i checked, is pretty freakin good, especially for a second baseman. he had a .321 EqA last season, which was tied for 6th in the national league, ahead of "great" and "feared" hitters like ryan braun, matt holliday and ryan howard. he was nearly 30 points of EqA and 20 RARP ahead of the next-best second baseman, and he was also easily the best-hitting second baseman in 2006. in what universe is the best second baseman in the world worth only $10-$12 million per year? maybe if we turn the clock back 10 years. his PECOTA projections have him worth about $19M per year the next two years; if he produces at the level that he produced last year, he's worth closer to $25M. stop the insanity.
  12. his K rate was much lower last year with baltimore, and he has only 2 K's in 28 ABs this year. he doesn't walk, but maybe he will be productive enough to justify starting him. i kinda doubt it, but i wouldn't rule it out.
  13. The Brewers wouldn't trade anyone to make room, especially Braun or Fielder. If need be, they would move Hart to CF and Braun to RF. That would end up being the worst defensive OF in the majors. but quite possibly the best offensive OF in the majors.
  14. no, he was back throwing in rookie ball a little over a year after his surgery.
  15. He's one of the top 2nd baseman in the league besides Utley and Phillips but totally agree with what you are saying. Good maybe even underrated, but definitely nowhere near Utley. hudson is average, not great. check out those road splits there's no way he's average. he's an above average hitter for a second baseman, regardless of his splits, and he's one of the better defensive 2B in the game.
  16. Looks like Jonathan Sanchez has been absolutely dropping them tonight. his stuff has been filthy, so i guess one could call him "dirty sanchez" tonight however, a low-scoring game between those two teams is not exactly a huge shock
  17. since when do people still miss 24 months after TJS?
  18. yeah i was wondering the same thing, does it have some sort of significance with respect to the cubs?
  19. God that was horrendous. worst 4 game winning streak ever.
  20. Did this time. :D first time for everything. maybe later this year we can get carlos lee out once.
