  1. world series here we come
  2. if the cardinals signed me, i bet i could hit a few home runs
  3. if i were a manager, i couldn't tell a pitcher who was 3 outs from a no-no that his night is done. tito is a very good manager; i think he did the right thing here.
  4. another home run for ludwick? this is such bull crap.
  5. wait jason dubois is back? what the hell???
  6. wow, no marmol. maybe lou is learning about leverage.
  7. let me guess, marmol is going to pitch the ninth with a five run lead.
  8. is this astros announcer seriously telling us about a trade just proposed to him in fantasy baseball?
  9. that's why the red sox have been so good the past five years, they fill their pitching staff with guys who love to bean batters in the head.
  10. It was hilarious. see fire joe morgan for visual evidence.
  11. hmmm maybe his back had something to do with his control problems lou? what a doofus.
  12. PECOTA-projected EqA this season: #1 hitter: Ryan Braun, .326 vs Lance Berkman, .306 #2 hitter: Prince Fielder, .308 vs Carlos Lee, .288 #3 hitter: Corey Hart, .295 vs Hunter Pence, .284 #4 hitter: Mike Cameron, .286 vs Ty Wigginton, .274 #5 hitter: Rickie Weeks, .284 vs Miguel Tejada, .273 #6 hitter: Bill Hall, .274 vs J.R. Towles (.265) or Brad Ausmus (.212) #7 hitter: J.J. Hardy, .260 vs Michael Bourn (.255) #8 hitter: Jason Kendall, .228 vs Kaz Matsui, .243 Even though PECOTA looks to have predicted the demise of Miguel Tejada too early, it's also looking considerably too optimistic on Bourn, Towles and perhaps Pence. I think the Astros' offense is pretty average, and I'd expect the Brewers to score about half a run more per game than the Astros this season.
  13. this is just as dumb:" Kerry Wood has held the bullpen together with 10 saves." no, carlos marmol has been by far the most valuable part of the bullpen.
  14. yeah but they do have ryan ludwick, who's better than both of those guys in their primes.
  15. i agree that he has been relatively solid, but pretty much every young guy who gets called up gets extensively analyzed by the board. the only young guy i can think of who hasn't been criticized much is geovany soto, who has pretty much been the best-hitting catcher in baseball since september of last year. pretty much everyone is rooting for him and nobody has said that the kid is a non-prospect, so there's nothing to be offended about.
  16. wieters: .328/.413/.573/.986 parker: 4-1, 1.71 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, ~8 K/9 IP porcello: 3-4, 1.72 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 5.36 K/9 IP those were three correct answers to "who should the cubs draft with the #3 pick"
  17. make sure to check the astros' starter for sandpaper
  18. yeah i don't really understand how guys like izturis and larue are walking... just throw the ball down the middle, the worst that happens is they hit a single
  19. dusty's career record is 1182-1064 (.526), just in case anyone was thinking about using a manager's career record to argue that he's a good manager.
  20. the cardinals should never sign another big-ticket free agent, ever. just sign minor league free agents and watch them blossom into superstars.
  21. dusty took it easy on volquez today, only 111 pitches
