  1. let's try to win another series in the pythagorean standings! we've won 13 out of 17 series in that respect! yay cubs!
  2. enough cobs, time to go enjoy a barbeque and get drunk
  3. yeah you probably should just go back to whatever you were doing and pretend the cubs don't exist.
  4. gotta feel for clayton kershaw, having to make his mlb debut against a lineup as loaded as the st. louis cardinals.

  6. boy this astros reliever sure brought the gas can with him today
  7. sampson is so bad that he's giving up home runs after being lifted from the game!
  8. if marmol finishes off this save, budhouse will never let us hear the end of it.
  9. blanco is hitting .323... catcher controversy?
  10. howry got lots of people out last year throwing 57 straight fastballs
  11. i suspect people mostly dislike dayn perry because he is a cardinal fan, not because he writes stupid things (which he generally doesn't)
  12. is there a team better at giving away quality major league players than the texas rangers?
  13. i think you're confusing dayn perry with mike celizic i dont really know what type of in-depth sports analysis you'd expect from MSNBC nobody in the country would even know who this guy was if he werent constantly ridiculed on a blog ok, then joe morgan or bill plaschke or whatever. everyone bitches about dayn perry, but he's better than about 98% of the baseball writers out there.

  15. the worst one is "it'd slow down the game." it already slows down the game (or stops it, basically) when the umpires huddle up to discuss a call when none of them really knows whether or not the ball went over the fence. then no matter what the call is, the manager who has the call go against his team will come out and argue. if you have replay, you'll have the answer in less than a minute, and there's no reason for a manager to argue the call. i also think that if an ump blows too many calls in a year, he should be fired. they can call this the "bruce froemming rule."
  16. This might be the worst "stupid trade offer" post ever. agreed.
  17. He may not be able to score from 2nd on a single or steal a base, but he's far from worthless. He still managed 2 hits yesterday and he'll hit his homers. i'm hoping he was being sarcastic.
  18. if numbers analysis don't work, then some simple scouting should've told the cubs that this guy was cooked. compare his hit chart this year to his hit charts 2-3 years ago. back then he pulled a lot of balls out and showed power to all fields. this year, most of his batted balls are going to the left side and he's not driving anything, which are prime indicators of a loss of bat speed - and that's crippling to a power hitter without much else to offer in terms of speed or fielding ability.
