  1. With what top prospects? jeff samardzija might be a good complement to braylon edwards
  2. i hope so. if we're gonna lose, might as well go ahead and lose by 20.
  3. always a good sign to be at an 18% chance of winning before even taking a turn at bat
  4. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u257/mistercolvin/output.gif
  5. we do? that's a bad forecast. It says partly cloudy in hour-by-hour, amnd thunderstorms 6-7...but it says 50 percent chance of rain from 12 to 3 Now it says thunderstorms at 4/ well that's a little better; it'll only be wrong by about 4 hours rather than 7
  6. yeah the weather for this one is not looking promising :x weekend games should be fine though.... might be a doubleheader on one of those days, i suppose
  7. yeah but a lot of those hits probably came when edmonds could get around on a 90 mph fastball.
  8. aaron cook is basically 90 cents worth of derek lowe, and we didn't do crap against lowe the other day. hopefully we can do better against this groundballer.
  9. that's a more colvin-esque performance.
  10. unless wood blows a save in the ninth inning of game seven of the world series... then we go find budhouse and tear him limb from limb
  11. kerry's peripherals are pretty damn impressive this season. i can't say that i was totally on the wood for closer bandwagon, because i feared that his command would be too spotty and the "he doesn't have it" outings too common, but he has been really good. hopefully he stays healthy and keeps pitching well... with everything he has been through and the kind of guy that he's reported to be off the field, he is certainly easy to root for.
  12. jon daniels should probably just not trade with anybody, ever.
  13. When he gets warmed up, they tend to not want to sit him. I don't know why, maybe someone with physiological background might explain what happens if you get a guy up and then don't use him. Wood with his starters background and arm injuries takes a little longer to warm up. So if they get him warmed up, he's already thrown enough pitches and put enough stress on the arm that even if they sit him down, they can't consider it an "off day" in their bullpen usage. So it makes more sense to go ahead and throw him in the game instead of also using up an off day of another reliever. even if you can't consider it an off day, you can still spare your second-best bullpen arm from throwing pitches in a game situation when the outcome is virtually decided. the cubs are going to need woody in october; best to keep the mileage off his arm if you can.
  14. i think dr. nick riviera is the only doctor who would side with lou on this one.
  15. What the hell difference does it make? If you get warmed up then come into the game, you'll cool down anyway afterwards, just like if you warm up and then sit back down. His arm is fine. If you're going to baby him that much put him in a diaper. My god. yeah the notion of a guy having to pitch in a game situation after warming up is idiotic. lou is completely talking out his ass in this case.
  16. only a 98% chance of winning... can't entrust this game to just anyone!!!
  17. YAY!!!!!!!!!!! IM SO PUMPED! it's probably 75% the fact that the big club is really good this year and 25% that the prospect pipeline is piss-poor, but i've found myself caring a lot less about the minors this year. and the draft too, i guess.
  18. too bad they pinch hit for marmol, he's nails protecting a big lead in the 9th.
  19. Likely to retire. He flopped horribly in Iowa and Tennessee in rehab stints. He refused to be bumped down to Daytona. Thanks. That sucks for him. For some reason I just remembered the couple of games he pitched well in in 05 or 06. i don't remember him pitching in '06, but that might be because i blocked out all baseball-related happenings from that season.
  20. Or Kent Bottenfield magically turning himself into Greg Maddux for one yr, so that the Cards could trade him (with current Card Adam Kennedy for Jim Edmonds. followed by edmonds putting up his top six OPS+ seasons with the cards - all of which came after he was in his early to mid 30s. nobody ever mentions edmonds and PEDs, but it wouldn't surprise me.
  21. better yet, ask him if he'd ever heard of ryan ludwick before ludwick's body became possessed by the spirit of stan musial.
