  1. then go do something that you enjoy, preferably something that involves not whining pathetically on this message board.
  2. if the brewers were selling, carlos gomez would be a good target, with the added benefit that he's under contract for 2016.
  3. part of the problem is that there aren't really that many holes to fill. the 1b and 3b have obviously been fine. soler is supposed to be a cornerstone at RF but he hasn't been great, but you're obviously not going to pull the plug on him. russell hasn't been that bad at 2b, although he's been bad the last month. montero isn't going anywhere; fowler was supposed to be a reliable .750 ops in cf but has disappointed. castro is supposed to be good and is signed to a long term contract. so really the only position that's not occupied by a young player or a supposedly-reliable veteran is left field, and coghlan and denorfia really aren't bad out there. the most likely trades are either to dump castro - but how likely is it to find a 2b/ss with a big bat - or to give up on fowler and acquire a cf who isn't playing terribly. neither of these solutions are that easy, especially with a lot of teams out there waiting until the deadline to determine if they're buying or selling. btw the cubs are still a couple of games clear in the wild card and just finished off a solid month against a tough schedule. let's not act like they're in total collapse here.
  4. Our record isn't worth the frustration of worrying if we're going to score one measly run each game. The offense is beyond pathetic and isn't worth anyone's time. it seems to be worth your time, considering that you're in just about every game thread overreacting and whining about the same things.
  5. Haven't they been in more 1-run games than any other team in the league? How is that boring? I think for me because a lot of times when they win 2-1, I feel so mentally fatigued watching their offense fail time and time again that by the end it wasn't exciting but just taxing. 2015 major league baseball is boring.
  6. fowler is going to cost himself a lot of money. all he had to do for a nice payday was play as well this season as he'd consistently played for the past 5 years.
  7. two innings for our sad sack offense to push across a run.
  8. kinda would have been nice if the umpire didn't gift eaton a 2-0 count on pitches that were strikes.
  9. is soler the first two? he's actually the last two. the first two were the GIDP's by bryant and castro, respectively.
  10. cubs have made outs on balls that left the bat at 105, 102, 98 and 93 mph.
  11. there have been a [expletive] lot of hard hit outs by the cubs in this game.
  12. bryant seems to have very few games where he doesn't get on base at least once.
  13. fowler strikes out on a ball three pitches after he should've been out on ball three.
  14. a couple of awful strike calls this inning. on the plus side, no double play!!!
  15. what's the record for double plays in a game? maybe we can take a run at that.
  16. you said that most closers are much worse in non-save situations. this terribly formatted article seems to indicate that the average closer is marginally worse in non-save situations, so it doesn't even back up the argument that you were making. by the way, rondon was better in save situations than non-save situations last season. strop was better in high leverage situations than medium and low leverage situations last year. shame that they were both apparently closers last year but no longer are closers this season due to a half season of poor performance in higher-leverage spots.
  17. rodon has a 1.64 whip, quintana is giving up more than a hit per inning, and the white sox have one player with an ops over .712.
  18. just because you've been saying it for a long time doesn't make it any less stupid.
  19. the correct answer is that you are both terrible posters.
  20. the trades for fowler and montero seemed a lot cooler a month or two ago.
  21. Shouldn't have been the tying run if the untradeable star SS got a run in with 1 out http://www.volumeeleven.net/images/broken_record.gif
