  1. i agree with the idea of offering him a three year contract that would vest based on appearances/innings pitched in the first and/or second years. i think that's reasonable given his health history. if he doesn't want to do it, say if another team is offering him guaranteed money, then i'd understand. but if he believes that he will be healthy as a reliever, then i think he would sign on to such a deal.
  2. Question answered: http://gocubsgo.today.com/files/2008/10/1224507968425954.jpg Good lord, that's depressing. Yeah. It is very depressing. you think that's depressing, just wait until it's 2045 and they're tacking on an eighth digit.
  3. flyers lost 7-6 tonight. as i expected before the season started, we can't play defense, so we suck. good times. at least the phillies are still winning... for now.
  4. YES. three more wins. tonight was a must-win for the phils IMO; the rays rotation is deeper than the phils', but hamels is the best starter in the series, and he needs to win his starts. myers over shields would be huge, but that's just gravy at this point. lose game one and you're staring at big problems. howard needs to get his bat going though - i have a hard time seeing them win the series with him leaving ducks on the pond every AB. he's guessing up there and it's ugly. throw a couple of bunts down the third base line. i figured i would just root for the phillies as a casual fan, but apparently i don't do the whole casual fan thing very well. i'm definitely emotionally invested. i guess i just know too many big phillie fans, and too many people who have watched their teams crap the bed year after year. i am probably rooting more for the city than the actual team.
  5. or like they'll drive pat burrell out after this season is done.
  6. there's a baseball game tonight, apparently nobody else on nsbb is aware of this. go phillies.
  7. norv turner. handed the keys to arguably the most talented team in the nfl, and he's running them straight into the ground. yeah, he's SO much better than marty schottenheimer.
  8. why on earth does this still exist?
  9. by the way, both espn writers and college football news have as the rose bowl.... ohio state vs usc :x
  10. some early point spreads on games people may or may not care about: Wake Forest @ Miami Florida (-3) Minnesota @ Purdue (pick 'em) BC @ North Carolina (-3) Illinois (-1) @ Wisconsin Ole Miss (-4) @ Arkansas Duke @ Vandy (-9.5) - Vandy trying to become bowl eligible. Alabama (-6) @ Tennessee - smaller line than i would have expected. UCLA @ Cal (-17.5) Oklahoma St @ Texas (-12.5) Uga @ LSU (-2.5) Michigan St (-5.5) @ Michigan Virgina Tech @ Florida St (-4.5) Texas Tech @ Kansas (-2.5) - thought tech might be a slight favorite Colorado @ Mizzou (-21.5) Penn St (-2.5) @ Ohio St Notre Dame (-11.5) @ Washington USC (-14.5) @ Arizona
  11. it would have been more fitting if he were hurt for the year after picking a ball off and then getting horsecollared by an opposing wide receiver.
  12. can't say i had these teams combining for 89 points.
  13. nice to see norv turner limited LDT to 41 yards today. a team as talented as the chargers should not be 3-3 with a home loss to carolina and a road loss to miami. screw you, norv.
  14. clearly the post of a sad, deranged satan worshiper. Or somebody who doesn't want to see another Big 10 team get demolished by a much better Big XII/SEC or USC team again in the National Championship game. This is Penn State's toughest game left by far and if they lose it, there's almost no way they get to the National Title game. oh there definitely is no way that they make it without winning. they have to win out. i do not think we would get demolished, though. that's an ohio state thing.
  15. washington and cleveland seem determined to play the most boring game in nfl history. i picked washington in survivor football, but in hindsight i really should have taken houston. it doesn't really matter though, since i already won, but i'd like to stay alive just for fun.
  16. the lions are getting completely dominated.... by the texans. that is a bad, bad team.
  17. haha i'm a moron, i was looking at last year's spread. anyway, i will guess buckeyes -1.
  18. spreads aren't out for next week until tomorrow. certain online places have listed odds.
  19. by the way, who wants to guess the point spread on the psu-osu game? no peeking.
  20. hey the lions are fighting tooth and nail for that #1 pick Yes, but which team is funnier? I think that should decide it. Orlovsky's safety certainly gives the Lions the edge. the bengals counter with chad ocho cinqo and their extensive rap sheet.

  22. hey the lions are fighting tooth and nail for that #1 pick
  23. boy dallas, wtf
  24. Even tho I don't think they are the best team in football---I don't see a clear cut best team in America---because they don't play defense. With that said, I much rather let Texas have that target on their back then my team. Thus I much rather let Texas be ranked #1. So who is and why? alabama, because he's an alabama fan.
