  1. can we play the "best/worst town" game for the big ten?
  2. the phillies have left 2985829679872 men on base this series.
  3. worse yet, lubbock is in a DRY COUNTY.
  4. Who hits well in the clutch season after season. interestingly enough, aramis ramirez
  5. fresno st has been really disappointing too. they lost at home to hawai'i, who isn't good this year, and they needed a 58 yard field goal (wow, by the way!) to beat terrible utah st on saturday.
  6. Spreads for some games of interest this weekend: Iowa @ Illinois (-1.5) ... battle for the alamo bowl? West Virginia (-4) @ UConn ... pretty important game, at least as far as the lousy big east goes NW'ern @ Minnesota (-6) ... probably the two most surprising big ten teams Auburn @ Ole Miss (-6) ... how the mighty have fallen Pitt @ Notre Dame (-5.5) ... which pitt team shows up? Florida (-5.5) @ Georgia ... already signs that the "smart money" is going on Uga Texas (-6) @ Texas Tech ... thought the line would be lower Michigan @ Purdue (-1.5) ... big ten toilet bowl? no, that's indiana vs purdue. washington st @ stanford (-30) ... hard to believe stanford is favored by 30 over anyone, but wazzu is horrid florida st (-1.5) @ ga tech ... pretty important game, at least as far as the lousy acc goes
  7. my God, the phillies situational hitting has been unbelievably atrocious in this series.
  8. the world series
  9. iwamura isn't used to fielding a ball that close to first base? holy crap, shut up mccarver.
  10. According to the fans, so that explains that. what better way to honor one of the all time greats (hank aaron) by creating an idiotic award in his name.
  11. college football news: yes you morons, he was pulled because he was ineffective. the offensive lineman was holding up two fingers in front of his face to see if he could count that high. i guess that's a fair assessment, though he's had zero opportunities to do so, and he certainly hasn't shown that he CAN'T come through late with everything on the line.
  12. oh there were bad calls that cost the phillies a run in each of the first two games - one on offense in game 1 and then the rays got a free run in game 2. fortunately none of these have resulted in the "wrong" team winning, but it's still pathetic that these are the best umps that mlb can give us. aramis ramirez and kevin youkilis were the top offensive players in their respective leagues? lol.
  13. Sonnastine made a real big mistake there but that doesn't excuse the umps here. The freaking play was right in front of that ump. And now it costs the Rays a run. MLB should be embarrassed. meh, if the first base ump doesn't blow a call in the seventh inning last night, the phillies win the game 4-3 rather than having to win it in the bottom of the 9th. a lot of people want the playoffs to be similar to the regular season, and i guess mlb has at least gotten some consistency as far as the quality of the umpire work.
  14. there's been at least one bad missed call in each of the games so far. maybe this will create enough of an uproar (if anyone is watching) to put instant replay in for calls on the basepaths.
  15. nice to see the rays finally get boned over on a call. but yeah, when slow ryan howard grounds to the pitcher, the throw should go to 2B to start the double play rather than trying to get rollins coming home - that's a mental mistake.
  16. Yet he hasnt pitched since the 18th? Anyone know why? I read somewhere, maybe TCR, that he was supposed to pitch earlier this week but rain pushed him back to Sunday. Haven't seen anything since. That sounds about right, I believe Aragua had two rain outs last week. they should relocate to daytona
  17. thanks to the jets close (why???) win over the chefs, i'm still alive in survivor football. looks like i'm hanging my hat on the bears to beat the lions at soldier field next sunday.
  18. i like it better when he gets two cracks at the end zone from the 1 yard line and can't get in \:D/
  19. the phillies are 2 games from winning the world series.... i find this very shocking
  20. Don't overstate things, here :-P uhm, i'm not. they totally controlled the blues and they've been pitiful since 05-06 (and they were mediocre then). it's not a huge feat, but it's worth noting for a young team. and kesler is a really, really underrated player. he really impressed me last year. i've only seen one 'nucks game this year though...the caps game. yeah, not a good showcase of the team. we tried to sign kesler to an offer sheet, but vancouver matched it :x
  21. as an eagles fan during the rich kotite years, i feel the pain of fans of talented teams being sabotaged by inept coaching.
  22. He was a former Steeler. burress had one of my favorite plays of all time during his rookie year in a game against the jags. he made a nice catch over the middle and then was sort of stumbling after the catch, and fell down. he got up and spiked the ball - apparently still thinking he was in college. one of the jaguar defensive plays then picked the ball up and ran it back like 50 yards.
  23. someone needs to create firenorvturner.com what a terrible coach. i hope they don't make the playoffs.
