  1. actually some are just saying that the umpire has a terribly inconsistent strike zone, which has nothing to do with the off-centered camera 500 feet away.
  2. Calm down, Truffle hey i can type the f-word now that it's filtered out to expletive.
  3. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but gameday is not a site to source to bolster one's argument. I didn't see it but even if I did the camera angle alone makes it really hard to tell where the ball was. gameday is basically worthless. it shows balls in the strike zone that miss by a foot and a half. But its an impartial computer how can you argue with that? actually gameday uses pitchf/x and is incredibly accurate, now if you look at the pitchf/x data it would probably show that umpires almost never call that pitch a strike. i don't know what to tell you. i've been watching games and seen gameday take a ball that was 2 inches off the ground and put it in the middle of the strike zone.
  4. apparently theriot and fukudome do not get the same level of respect afforded to a 28 year old AAAA third baseman.
  5. i believe that's the first time demp has struck out Pujols.
  6. i like how this guy is super-conservative and uber-religious but goes around swearing like a sailor.

  8. what the hell is wrong with this guy
  9. we didn't outplay them the whole game. i thought the play was pretty even. the call on carter was very weak given the situation; the call on knuble was legit and is not surprising at all since he manages to negate a power play at least once a week. the call on giroux was pretty weak given the situation. but it's the pens at home and the flyers have a bad reputation so you know the calls are going to go that way. the game could've gone either way and fortunately the pens won it. hopefully they can take two more in philly and make it a sweep.
  10. oh i remember la russa bitching about umpiring so i figure i just had to find one example to make him look like a huge hypocrite.
  11. Damn I hate Larussa http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap;_ylt= ... 16&prov=ap what was that, tony?
  12. if the bill of your cap touches the bill of the umps cap? Yes. You can't touch the ump. It's really a simple, hard and fast, reasonable rule. he didn't touch the umpire. the bill of the cap that he was wearing touched the bill of the cap that the umpire was wearing.
  13. solid OT loss... hopefully two games left in the coaching career of john stevens.
  14. the eagles have apparently traded for LT jason peters, from the bills. that would probably change my first round pick.
  15. two more singles for vitters? kid is a machine.
  16. do you have poor eyesight? that's apparently the first requirement to become an MLB umpire so better make sure you've got that covered.
  17. it wasn't neifi's fault either, and we booed his ass.
  18. colvin under the mendoza line at daytona. in completely unrelated news, travis snider has a 1.264 OPS with toronto.
  19. umpires are allowed to do a crappy job; managers aren't allowed to criticize umpires.
  20. i think the cardinals will be a lot better than they look on paper, and will win 90 games or close to it. and i'll have no idea how they did it. chris duncan and his experimental surgery fixed his "career-ending" neck problem, while mark prior and his perfect mechanics haven't thrown a major league inning in about 3 years. the whole thing pisses me off.
  21. we've gotten some breaks in another game or two earlier this year, but yeah today's home plate ump was terrible.
