  1. 2 and 2/3 innings, give him some credit.
  2. 2.2 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 0 K by samardzija. SOLID.
  3. I can only imagine the posters loving a move like this from Hendry. Trading Thome for next to nothing when he's going to be a type A free agent. Brilliant move by Williams. =D> thome is making $13M this year and basically can only DH. if they'd offered him arbitration, the white sox would have been obligated to offer him at least $10.92M, since arbitration rules dictate that a team's offer must be at least 80% of his most recent year's salary, or 70% of his salary from 2 years ago. do you really think the white sox, or thome's new team (dodgers), are going to offer him about $11M a year when he's going to be 39 years old, he's had some injury problems, can't play the field and his production has declined pretty significantly?
  4. 2 wins in a row... this must be the surge.
  5. I'm pretty sure this guy will be on his best behavior living in NYC. hardly any women to beat up there.
  6. i think sean rodriguez is from the brandon wood school of being a prospect for 10 years. still, rodriguez might be a decent player and has enough versatility to be a valuable utility guy. strikes out too much though, and i would have concern about holes in his swing.
  7. if someone is paying 7/135 for holliday i hope to God it is the cardinals.
  8. T8th in 2006, 5th in 2007, T4th in 2008, now T4th in 2009. can i win something for being close every year?
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4439517 fun start to the college fb season for rich rod.
  10. He could do both. Run Milton out of town and make a big splash by signing Matt Holliday. That would be a terrible splash. I'd love that move. Matt Holliday's career: .318/.387/.547 Milton Bradley's career: .279/.373/.453 Holliday is also two years younger, stays healthier and considerably less volatile. coors field coors field coors field. holliday's career road numbers: .282/.353/.454
  11. went to see an altoona curve game tonight. donnie veal started and went 2.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 5 K. basically what we came to expect from him in the cubs' organization - his fastball was 89-93 and got some batters to chase his breaking pitches, but he threw a couple of fastballs high to the backstop and his command was very spotty. matt walbeck manages the curve and their DL includes lincoln holdzkom. was disappointed that pedro alvarez was getting the night off.
  12. i had given up on him getting a real chance with the cubs and was skeptical that he'd figure it out, but i hadn't given up on his potential because he was still young and, as someone has mentioned in this thread, has had problems adjusting to other levels. i can understand the cubs' impatience with him last year, since they were contending, but it would have been nice for them to give pie longer than about 4 games at a time before panicking and going to the fallback option of reed johnson.
  13. Did you ever see the Caribbean team play? nope. i guess my rant goes for any little leaguers who act cocky and don't get properly put in their place by their coaches.
  14. That explains a lot. yeah like the idiots who boo bradley after he rakes for all of august and gets on base 8 times in a row.
  15. loving me some kyler burke. a 300/400/500 line is just so pretty.
  16. 19th out of 822! danny cabrera is my worst performer; unfortunately he sucked so badly that he was farmed out by the friggin nationals. willy taveres has been an absolute beast... thank you dusty.
  17. yeah that was my biggest problem with him and other kids on that team, they're 11 and 12 years old. i don't care if professional baseball players hot dog it a bit after hitting a home run, but little league coaches should be teaching these kids some class.
  18. tennessee is getting beat 6-0... hopefully west tenn will also lose. chattanooga is only a game behind each team. burke has a single and 2 walks for peoria.
  19. i'm sure a-rod would've messed it up too, since he's a choker and all.
  20. good pitching... at least you're walking great hitters like chris coste and jeff keppinger.
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp09/news/story?id=4434939 i would be shocked if he got hurt, what with all the hard work he didn't put in during training camp.
  22. i've gone to waterparks probably 50 times in my life and been injured precisely zero times.
  23. that california team had some real asswipes on it. congrats on hitting a home run off a kid who's 10 inches shorter and 100 lbs lighter than you, ramirez, why don't you showboat a little more?
