    Im guessing There must be some kind of bad blood between Jax and Tennessee, and they figured that his progression is more important than keeping him down to prove a point. he had good but not great numbers at tennessee, but i don't think it would be a big deal for him to start next season at iowa. judging by his performance this year, he should be able to at least be decent at that level in 2010.

    burke goes 2-4 with the home run and a walk. on the season he closes with a .303/.405/.505/.911 line with 78 BB against 99 K. .303 BA (6th in league) .405 OBP (2nd) .505 SLG (3rd) .911 OPS (3rd) 93 runs (3rd) 141 hits (6th) 43 doubles (1st) 15 HR (T10th) 89 RBI (T3rd) 235 total bases (4th) 78 BB (T3rd) terrific year all around for him. probably should've gotten MVP, but that award was split by dee gordon (who steals a lot of bases and also gets caught doing so a lot) and kyle russell, who had 26 HR and 102 RBI, but also an epic strikeout total of 180 (!!!)

    does anyone think that the elite teams in i-aa are going to start having trouble getting games against i-a schools? like what's the motivation to play an appalachian state or a richmond? the main reasons that teams play i-aa schools are free win and home game revenue. well, if you're a middle-of-the-road i-a team, or even a pretty good one, you're really rolling the dice with the whole "win" part by playing an app st, and i highly doubt that there's much difference in the crowd to watch app st and, say, illinois st. seems to me the gap is closing between the top i-aa teams and the #20-#70 i-a teams, and since you don't get any credit for beating a i-aa school, might as well just play one that sucks.

    uzr isn't the only defensive metric that has theriot right around average, and not just this year, but pretty much since he's become a starting shortstop.

    I know you're somewhat joking, but I was curious. They've actually been ranked really well the last few years: From the AP poll 2005 preseason-8th, Final-7th 2006 preseason-17th, Final-19th 2007 preseason-9th, Final-9th 2008 preseason-17th, Final-15th i'm surprised. maybe they work their way higher and then lay some eggs in october/november before doing well in a bowl game or something. just seems like they're overrated a lot. they're getting thoroughly outplayed in this game, but as usual their special teams have kept them in it.

    See? No one is bitching about how bad the Big 12 is. Kstate barely beats a D-1AA team, and OU loses to a less talented (but pretty decent) BYU team, albeit without their heisman QB. But if the Big 10 does those things its, "LOL THE BIG TEN SUXXX! WORST BCS CONFERENCE" That's because the Big Ten is terrible. It's not the worst BCS conference though. I saw people suggesting that they should be stripped of being a BCS conference. yeah that's idiotic. the perception of the big ten has been hurt by ohio state's continued flops in big games and a lack of top 10-caliber teams. there have been a number of years when the conference is fairly deep, but people say it sucks.

    either notre dame is better than people think or nevada isn't that good this year.

    I couldn't watch the game. How good is Richmond? How did Duke look? I didn't see the game, but Richmond is a 1-AA National Championship contender. yeah richmond and app st are the top two teams in the i-aa rankings. pretty good start for the highly-regarded i-aa teams - app st was close with east carolina, villanova beat temple, richmond beat duke, northern iowa almost beat iowa. william & mary (ranked #14 in i-aa) beat virginia, who apparently sucks.
