  2. yeah missed that one... looks like the line is about even. i will probably pick iowa because they apparently cannot lose.
  3. Yes, Kiffin can be an arse and still show up in those orange jersey, but it will cost his team 15 yards on the kickoff to begin both halves. I'm pretty sure CNS is the one being a doucey arse here If that is what you think, then so be it. You be wrong, but that's okay. Alabama has the right to decline it. If Alabama/Tennessee game was played a neutral site similar to GA/Florida, Texas/OU, USC/UCLA, then fine I'll be for it, but since it's NOT, Alabama has the right to deny Tennessee, just like Tennessee has the right to deny Alabama if the roles were reverse. It's not being "douchy" it's what I call keeping the competitve advantage. how is it keeping a competitive advantage?
  4. sorry, had the line backwards. and the game is in south bend.
  5. lines for games of note: ga tech -5 @ virginia clemson @ miami -5 illinois @ purdue -10 minnesota @ ohio st -17.5 boston college @ notre dame -8 wake forest @ navy -2.5 arkansas @ ole miss -5.5 penn st -4.5 @ michigan oregon -8.5 @ washington tennessee @ alabama -15.5 oklahoma -7.5 @ kansas texas -13 @ mizzou auburn @ lsu -7.5 arizona st @ stanford -6.5 oregon st @ usc -20.5 tcu -2 @ byu
  6. i hate to defend notre dame, but notre dame really isn't small, especially for a catholic university; it isn't insignificant at all, and south bend isn't in the middle of nowhere.
  7. i love playoff baseball. basically the dodgers are one out from getting right back into the series, guaranteeing themselves the opportunity to go back home to LA, and have a lot of momentum back on their side. instead they're down 3-1, have absolutely no momentum and have to beat hamels and lee to win the series. good luck with that.
  8. what was he talking about on tonight's call of rollins' walkoff hit? here's the throw to the plate? the only throw to the plate was the one from the wall in right-center field, which is like 400 feet from home plate. there was no throw to the plate, there was an off-line throw to the cutoff man.
  9. seriously? you must not be familiar with manbearcub, he makes an a-hole post in pretty much every death thread.
  10. That's Jose Iglesias, right? no iglesias is the other guy born in 1990 but is about 2-3 months older than castro. a.j. jimenez (catcher from the blue jays system) is a month and a week older than castro.
  11. looking through the rosters of this league, i see that the average age of players in the league is probably about 23 and there are a number of guys who are 25 to 27 years old. it seems to me that the pitchers are slightly older than the hitters on average, maybe by about a year. there are only three guys who were born in 1990 and starlin is older than one, so he's the second youngest player in the league. the guy who's younger than him had a line of .263/.280/.356/.636 with 7 BBs and 72 Ks in the midwest league (low A), so castro is pretty far ahead of him on the developmental curve. i guess what it boils down to is, having a solid AFL competing against highly-regarded prospects who are almost all older than him, many of them older by a few years, would be really impressive for castro.
  12. vitters/castro today... castro played second. castro: ground out to 3b on 1-1 count. ground ball single to cf on first pitch. ground out to 3b on first pitch. pop out to 2b... no idea how many pitches, according to gameday, he saw 8 pitches, putting the second and eighth pitches into play for outs and also drawing four balls. vitters: deep fly out to cf on 0-1 count. fly out to cf on first pitch. pop out to ss on 1-0 pitch. line out to cf on 1-1 pitch. vitters also has two fielding errors.
  13. fisher is a great coach but maybe he's just reached the point where he's not getting through to the guys on that team any more. it just seems odd because they were very good last year and have collapsed now. i'm not a fan of making a change for the sake of making a change - there have been a lot of times when eagles fans wanted andy reid fired, but really, how many better coaches than him are out there - but the titans have to at least think about going in a different direction. still, if they do can fisher, they have to get a big name (shanahan, cowher, gruden) to replace him. i just don't think you can fire a coach that good and replace him with some generic O or D coordinator.
  14. Are they really worth insulting? BC is a nonentity. Though their punk fan base would never accept that. I attended the BC game in 2004 that we lost by one and their fans were intolerable leaving the stadium. punk fan base? they hardly have any fans. people in new england barely care about football. they were probably "intolerable" because they were drunk (people in boston are good at this) and you were bitter about your team losing.
  15. i would pass out from joy if that happened.
  16. i'm third generation holy cross alum, and we used to have a big rivalry with bc until they went toward big-time college athletics and we stayed smaller, so insult away.
  17. (a) he can still perform at a very high level? if so, the mariners would like to know where this has been. (b) this is a huge gift to the mariners. 2 years and $16M would have been terrible for his level of production.
  18. i thought we agreed not to use the abbreviation "n. perez"
  19. i just found out that drew brees' backup is mark brunell. i was pretty sure that guy retired like 3 years ago.
  20. crazy in that joe torre was crazy to start kuroda instead of billingsley.
  21. nobody else cares, but holy cross and colgate are probably the best teams in the patriot league (lafayette is also good) so this is a big game for us.
  22. lol eagles
  23. this series is over. hopefully the yankees lose in the world series.
  24. great job notre dame announcers, they make the intentional grounding call and it takes them half a minute to figure out that it couldn't be a fumble.
