  1. if this is ruled a catch bill lynch might burn down the stadium.
  2. i'd vote to acquit at the subsequent trial.
  3. They are overrated by default like LSU earlier this year. they'll probably win by a field goal. they're like ohio state's "championship team" from the earlier part of the decade (in quotes because the PI call against miami was bogus and osu should have lost). it seemed like they won every game by a touchdown or less, including some really close calls against some bad teams. That OSU team was way better than this Iowa team. That Ohio St. team was really [expletive] good. they were good but they barely beat cincinnati, purdue and illinois, each of whom were pretty bad.
  4. i was unaware that iowa has only played one game this year.
  5. as i said last year, iowa football has a gigantic horseshoe up their butt this year.

  7. i heard about that yesterday.

  9. mitch occasionally has some good insight as a former player, but mostly he's just a dumb redneck who's paid well to sit there and tell you [expletive] that you already know if you've followed baseball for more than 5 minutes of your life.
  10. that one it's hard to blame him though, it was a hard liner off the bat and the ump is basically right behind howard, with the ball skipping less than a foot in front of his glove. calls like that are basically impossible for the ump to get right without guessing, which is why we should have instant replay. Or let the home plate ump who's 90 feet away make the correct call instead of guessing. i doubt that the home plate umpire could have made the correct call on that play either.

  12. i think grady little has dressed up as charlie manuel for halloween.
  13. in the starting lineup for a team with a $200 million payroll. does not compute.
  14. oh shut the hell up hairston, that was a strike.
  15. i think pedro is just [expletive] with everybody. i wouldn't mind seeing him recreate this game, which is one of the most dominant performances i've ever seen from an mlb pitcher.
  16. I think it was the whole "no ACL" issue that scared most teams off, concerned about his longevity. Of course, I'd probably take 2-3 years of Blair over 10 years of most of the latter 60% of that draft, any day. yeah exactly. even if blair's shelf life is short and he lasts 5 years in the league, he'll be better than almost everyone drafted around him. i think a lot of people are going to be wondering how the hell blair lasted til the second round... actually a lot of people don't understand it already.
  17. i think moving to denver made them racist.
  18. i've been to probably 50 phillies games in my life and never heard anything racist.
  19. it still boggles my mind that dejuan blair lasted as long as he did and went to the spurs. way to go, rest of the nba.
  20. the l.a. kings claimed randy jones. apparently they have a need for a defenseman who skates fairly well but is always out of position defensively.
  21. I'm sure Mets fans aren't digging this matchup, either. mets fans are [expletive] miserable about this. go good, beat evil.
  22. agreed. He's one of those "perfect for college, doubtful for the pros" kind of players. He has a motor, he can shoot from mid court, but he's small (6 foot in shoes) and would have trouble defensively at the next level. He's a guy you love on your team in college though, especially in a program like PSU where his shot-making ability equals several more wins. ESPNU has the 2009 Freshmen rankings, with Tim Frazier being the #16 PG in the country and Jermaine Marshall being the #26 SF. Looks like DeChellis is improving the quality of players. They also have a (2010) home-town commit from SG Tran Buie, who is the #24 SG (per ESPNU). He picked PSU over Pitt, Maryland, GT and ND he actually transferred to state college h.s. from a school near albany... he's talor battle's half brother and he's supposed to be terrific. chances are, even if battle plays well enough to be a late first round pick in 2010, he'll stay for his senior year so that he and taran can play together for a year.
