  1. i would have enjoyed that too, mostly because his annoying consecutive-games streak would end by suspension.
  2. in his best year he struck out 155 times.
  3. he threw 120 pitches 4 days ago; that decision was pretty much made when they let him go deep into the ballgame. this has to be one of the fatter pitching matchups in recent memory.
  4. kurt warner has apparently decided to fill in for jake delhomme this week in the interceptions category.
  5. i kinda like eric berry and would feel sorry for him if the raiders draft him.
  6. nice to see norv turner's chargers playing down to yet another bad team.
  7. yeah i really liked him at texas... i'd like to see him still have a good nfl career. As would I I would too for no other reason than Merrill Hoge would be wrong. He's been killing VY since he got drafted. merrill hoge is a complete d-bag.
  8. solid run D in that jax-tenn game.
  9. the better question is what's with arizona getting their ass kicked by carolina
  10. there's always a decent chance he'll kill himself while drunk driving or perhaps a hunting accident.
  11. yeah i really liked him at texas... i'd like to see him still have a good nfl career.
  12. apparently the packers are much worse than i thought they were.
  13. are we considering top 3 rounds to be day one? if so, jared odrick will go on day one unless his combine is a complete disaster, and if navorro bowman comes out he'll probably go in the first round.
  14. their opinion would have been completely different, but then again there's a big difference between leading by four scores at halftime and trailing a bad team by more than a touchdown going into the fourth quarter. indiana tensed up and choked, then completely quit after giving up the lead. that was pretty obvious.
  15. come on. they trailed by more than a touchdown going into the fourth quarter. part of the margin of victory was an interception returned 90 yards for a touchdown after the ball bounced off of 30 players, and indiana also got jobbed out of 7 points by a terrible review ruling. in addition to that they needed indiana to completely choke and then give up to win by that margin.
  16. yeah i just saw that. normally when you have 24 points you have a lot more than 59 yards of offense.
  17. oh so your smug and sarcastic posts about iowa are because of.... i don't know what.
  18. so we lose to the raiders but then put up 30 in a half against the giants. makes sense.
  19. this is ridiculous. ok you honestly don't see why Iowa fans would care about the respect their team is given? They have one really challenging game standing between them and an undefeated season, but a lack of respect is likely going to cost them a chance to play for a national title. ETA: even if they beat OSU convincingly, they probably won't jump Texas or the SEC champ. When's the last time an 8-0 Big Ten team was behind an undefeated MAC team in the polls? Or behind both an undefeated MAC and undefeated MWC team in the coaches poll? they're behind a MAC team? i must be looking a different poll than you are. (i'm assuming you meant WAC) here's the thing, though. a lot of the board's iowa fans are smart enough to know that "knowing how to win" is bogus and margin of victory matters. yes, florida and alabama have each had a close shave, but those have come against teams that are fairly good (arkansas, tennessee), not sun belt and i-aa teams. and iowa has been doing it nearly every game. clearly iowa is a good team and they're 9-0, but it's also hard for anybody to rank them ahead of teams like texas, alabama and florida who are winning easily most weeks against similar competition while iowa is winning nailbiters every week.
  20. this is ridiculous. ok
  21. you'd think iowa fans would be happy with a 9-0 record, some chance at the title game and a very likely conference championship and rose bowl berth in 19 years, and wouldn't really care about whether their team is respected.
  22. if ohio st wins out, do they go to the rose bowl? looking at their schedule i think it's pretty unlikely, but one has to consider that possibility. do they get precedence over iowa because of the head to head win, or does iowa go because of the dumb "longest time since going to a rose bowl" rule?
  23. i had phio st losing to both penn st and iowa. i decided to stop picking against iowa after the wisconsin game, so i'm picking them to win out. but, i'm also picking texas and either bama or florida to win out, so that would put those teams in the "championship game" and iowa in the rose. i think the bcs shakes out with: 2 sec teams (this is basically a lock) 1 big east team (this is a lock) 1 acc team (also a lock) 1 big xii team (only way this gets messed up is if texas wins out during the regular season but loses to a big xii north team in the conference title game; texas could get selected at large) 1 pac 10 team (kind of a shame that the best conference gets only 1 bcs bid) boise st tcu 2 big ten teams (for this to happen, i think penn st or ohio st probably have to win out) -if texas loses in the big xii title game then it's either them or one of the big ten runners-up who gets left out. -if psu and osu each lose at least once more then i think there's a pretty good chance that the big ten only gets one bcs bid and a team like usc could still go.
  24. with msu losing tonight, only four teams in the big ten have 2 or fewer losses. i figure that these will be the teams fighting for the bcs and new year's day bowl games. current standings: Iowa 5-0 Penn State 4-1 Ohio State 4-1 Wisconsin 3-2 here's what everyone has left in conference: iowa: northwestern, @ohio st, minnesota penn st: ohio st, indiana, @mich st ohio st: @penn st, iowa, @mich wisconsin: @indiana, michigan, @northwestern iowa will make the bcs unless they lose twice, which is very unlikely given their schedule. at worst they should finish 11-1 (7-1). penn st will also make the bcs if they win out, which i'd say they have about a 50-60% chance of doing. wisconsin has a good chance to win out and i think they should only have two losses in conference. ohio st has a tough schedule left and could conceivably win out (in which case they're definitely bcs-bound), but could also easily go 1-2 and have 4 losses. i'll predict: iowa to the rose penn st to the fiesta wisconsin to capitol one ohio st to outback
  25. yankees getting all the big hits tonight. [expletive].
