Brett Favre threw for about 4000 yards the past two years. Would you really want him quarterbacking your team these days? I sure wouldn't. I'm not saying you necessarily have to throw the ball short every play, but you have to know when to throw the ball away and know when a certain throw is a low-percentage play. Favre is a guy who will try to squeeze a pass in between 3 defenders because he has confidence in his ability to do so. Sometimes it works. Sometimes he gets burned. Personally, I'll take the guy who just doesn't make those types of throws. If the Bears can score quickly on like half their possessions, yeah obviously the game is going to get ugly. But, if that isn't working against a good defense, they need something else. And, with that great defense, I'd feel better about going 3-and-out, punting, and forcing the other team to go most of the field, than to piss the ball away with stupid throws and give the other team the ball with a short field.
