  1. Isn't *zing* reserved for a joke, not a fact?
  2. I asked this question to several people at a local watering hole tonight. About 4-5 years back, I was at an establishment and came upon a certain monetary bill that was lying in a trough that served as a urinal for said bar. This is a trough with a continuous weak stream of water (not unlike a dentist's faucet) but also with a nearly continuous stream of men who need to drain themselves.Say you were in a bar, using the bathroom, and a similar situation arose. What denomination would the bill have to be, for you to reach in there and grab it as your own?

  4. where does one get historical WARP3? Just curious.
  5. I'm not impressed by Ginn, but I'll admit that's largely because in his two games against Penn State, he's completely disappeared. He looks really soft across the middle, and while he's got speed to burn, I'm not drafting a guy in the top 20 to be James Jett.
  6. here ya go... So, if another big international name wants to come to the MLS, they can't expect the league itself to shell out an 8-figure salary.
  7. If I were him, I'd go. He certainly has the talent to play in the NFL right now, and if he stays to prove he can stay healthy, he'd likely be a top 5 pick. If he goes to the NFL now, he'll be a top 15 pick. Meanwhile, if he were to suffer another season-ending injury (another broken collarbone, a la Charles Rogers) he'd certainly fall out of the first round. I say, take the millions while you can. The life span of a RB is especially short, and if you're gonna take a pounding carrying the ball 200 or 300 times, get paid for it if you can.
  8. I understand what you're saying, but I don't think that is why he was signed. He was brought in for the name, not the quality of his play. The top headlines on espn.com is about Beckham. It's also on cnn.com (not cnnsi - cnn) and is the top headline on the Drudge Report. It's very big news in the sports world and goes outside sports as well. His first MLS game will probably be the lead story on SportsCenter - how often does SC show any MLS? I think it's a great move for the MLS - regardless of his play, it will draw interest to soccer from the media and from people who normally wouldn't care. And, Beckham will be getting paid $10M per year at most by the MLS. Sources have said that at least $200M of the deal is tied to his numerous endorsement deals.
  9. hahaha not drafting a quarterback because you have chris simms is like winning a new car on the price is right, but turning it down because you've already got a kia rio
  10. I have that same feeling about the Bears-Seahawks matchup  BEARSBEARSBEARSBEARSBEARSBEARS p.s. does your signature have to be so obscenely huge? not if you block it hey now, why you gotta be ruining everyone elses signature fun because you got a big one? i can't block yours without blocking everyne elses. maybe this just works in firefox, but if you right click on it, you can block all images from a given site (mine is from askmen.com). If you're using iE rather than firefox, then you're a fool and don't deserve the right to block images
  11. I think Sidney Rice will be better than Samardzija too.

  13. I'm not exactly focused on it either - my team IS playing on Sunday - but I'm getting lost in all the new threads of Jarrett and Peterson and whoever the hell else said they're leaving for the NFL draft. Trying to keep things more simple.
  14. Rather than start a new thread every time someone declares for the draft, I figured I'd just start the draft thread and then we can keep all that stuff together. Anthony Gonzalez just declared for the draft. As a Penn State fan, this makes me happy - Buckeyes are down their top 2 receivers and their starting QB next year. We should have a good shot at beating them, especially with the game here in Happy Valley. On the other hand, they did start 10 freshmen and sophomores, so the cupboard is hardly bare. So, here's the list of underclassmen entering the draft so far: Jamaal Anderson Arkansas DE Jr. Jon Beason Miami LB Jr. Alan Branch Michigan DT Jr. Michael Bush Louisville RB Jr. C.J. Gaddis Clemson CB Jr. Anthony Gonzalez Ohio State WR Jr. Chris Houston Arkansas CB Jr. Dwayne Jarrett USC WR Jr. Calvin Johnson Georgia Tech WR Jr. Charles Johnson Georgia DE Jr. Rory Johnson Mississippi LB Jr. Marshawn Lynch California RB Jr. Robert Meachem Tennessee WR Jr. Zach Miller Arizona State TE Jr. Greg Olsen Miami TE Jr. Darrelle Revis Pittsburgh CB Jr. Sidney Rice South Carolina WR Soph. JaMarcus Russell LSU QB Jr. Luke Smith-Anderson Idaho TE Jr. Lawrence Timmons Florida St. TE Jr. Darius Walker Notre Dame RB Jr. Danny Ware Georgia RB Jr. Eric Wright UNLV DB Jr.

  16. Last year's Florida team started out like 16-0 and was ranked #1 for an extended period of time. Villanova and NC State are both power conference teams. Penn State is from a power conference, but wouldn't you find it alarming if they made it to the tourney this year and won it? I'll be dead before a team that loses to Stony Brook and SE Louisiana wins the NCAA Tournament!

  18. So long as the 8 team field is the actual Top 8 in the BCS (with no conference tie-ins) I'm all for it. But if a #21 ranked F$U gets in from the ACC, or Wisconsin gets the boot for being the 3rd Big Ten team, I wouldn't be happy. This is my problem with an 8 team playoff. Just like with the BCS, there is no way all the major conferences would agree to an 8 team playoff without their conference champions getting an automatic bid. There is no way you get a playoff with the top 8 ranked BCS teams. It won't happen. The BCS rankings are completely ridiculous. The conference champs should get in. Wisconsin and Michigan don't get in unless they win the Big 10. Same for LSU or Cal or whoever else. Why is that so difficult? If you can't win your conference, you can't win the national championship. Makes sense to me. Why don't we make this a rule for college basketball too? because there is already a tournament that works very well and everybody likes? I don't see your point at all. Because a lot of the time, a team that doesn't win its conference proves to be the best team in the country during the NCAA tourney in college basketball. Don't you think the same could happen in football?

  20. No shock, Bob Gibson beat Roger Clemens on the Cards' board. Good thing they aren't HoF voters over there!
  21. I wish Dan Dierdorf was an option.
  22. If a team goes undefeated and finishes in the top 10 of the BCS standings, they get to be one of the 4 teams that plays for the title. Nice and easy.
  23. It was a good bowl season.... Penn State won and Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame all got embarassed. I'll miss college football.
  24. who cares about notre dame, they're irrelevent
  25. Yeah, I will say that the Pac 10 certainly appears to be the only conference in which almost every team plays at least one legitimately good non-conference opponent. USC: @Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame Cal: @Tennessee, Minnesota Oregon St: @Boise St, @Hawai'i UCLA: Utah, @ND Oregon: Oklahoma (@Fresno St would usually be a challenge too) Arizona St: Nevada, @Colorado (probably more impressive when they scheduled it) Wazzu: @Auburn Arizona: BYU, @LSU Washington: San Jose St, @Oklahoma Stanford: Navy, @San Jose St, @Notre Dame Pretty impressive. No other conference can hold a candle to that sort of OOC scheduling.
