  1. the better question is, why does Lou keep putting Ohman in to face a LH batter who is obviously going to be pinch hit for?
  2. yup. way to know the other team's lineup, lou. have ohman throw one slider and then put in dempster.
  3. if 120+ pitches was reason to say bye to Z's arm, then Dusty waved goodbye to it at least 2-3 years ago.
  4. boy it is gonna be really embarrassing if/when the cubs blow this one
  5. Ya thats an apt comparison...someone leading the league in hittting vs. someone who should be pitching in AA ball. Ohman is a joke. The bullpen is a joke. The loogy system is a joke. And yes, Howry should have more of blame than Ohgiirl. But this is about a pattern and Ohman fails. clever nickname. come up with that one yourself?
  6. give me a break. He pitched to one batter, pitched him pretty tough and ended up giving up a ground ball up the middle. Howry was the real culprit... he really has to get his act together or he and Eyre will be Useless #1 and 1A. Its his job to pitch to one batter and get that batter out. He threw slider after slider after slider and gave up a hit. He didnt do his job once again when called upon. and it's Derrek Lee's job to get a hit... he didn't do that in at least a couple of ABs yesterday, let's crucify him too.

  8. whoa, wait a minute... are you saying that you don't think he's going to finish the season with a .441 BABIP???
  9. well i might have fixed my offense problem... someone dropped berkman and i picked him up on waivers. Hopefully he remembers how to hit for power.
  10. samardzija's numbers are friggin horrible
  11. It's the truth. Fortunately I'm already pretty numb, and I'm only about to turn 29. 2003 and 2004 (I was at the Mets game where the collapse really began) made me really angry, but now I don't bother. It helps that I root for Philadelphia teams too, because they're just as useless. Once you accept that the Cubs will always be bad and will never win another World Series, you can just take these losses with a laugh and a shake of the head.
  12. winning streak? nah just kidding, cubs lose.
  13. It's like the opposite of Brian Giles. Derek Jeter has been called overrated for so long that he's actually underrated by many now. Dude has a .390 career OBP, a 124 OPS+, and plays just about every game. That OPS+ puts him ahead of every shortstop except for Honus Wagner, A-Rod, Arky Vaughan and Nomar. So yeah, I'd take him.
  14. I don't think anything can be worse than the shaft that the Mavs got last year, but yeah, apparently Lebron wasn't going to draw a foul on that play unless someone actually stabbed or sodomized him. The NBA sucks.
  15. This is the way our society has become. No one is ever responsible for anything, since some sickness, illness or negligence of another (who in turn has some sickness/other to blame) is always to blame for everything. I feel for the Teachers in America. They don't get paid nearly enough and constantly here this on a day to day basis from Parents. Nothing is ever the child/parent's fault. Always blame the school/teachers. i do blame the teachers in america for that mistake
  16. bad news pal - to get an advanced degree in any subject, you have to know a hell of a lot (i.e., a lot more than he's shown in this thread). In fact, I knew a lot more about cloud physics, fluid dynamics and the equations of meteorology five years ago than I do now as a professional meteorologist.
  17. maybe... people would've thought Alex Gordon to 3B and Teahen to RF would be a big upgrade for the Royals' lineup, but Gordon has been awful. It might take Braun a while to adjust too.
  18. guys, I'm concerned about D-Lee's power
  19. and your conduct was perfectly civil? you were just as condescending, if not moreso.
  20. if hancock wasn't drunk and the tow truck driver/driver was negligent, would you be ok with suing them? Perhaps, but I see no negligence in this circumstance. well, if a guy on the internet who read a couple articles about it doesn't see any negligence then why even have a trial? im sure abuck12345 is an experienced lawyer on the other hand, right? since you want to be a dick about it, i graduated from law school two weeks ago. burn
  21. there's not. But if they were, then they'll be held accountable. What Hancock's dad did was throw everyone who might be accountable into the lawsuit, and figure that it will be sorted out as the suit goes forward. If Shannon's stopped serving him and offered him a cab, then they won't be found responsible, but if they continued serving him while he was visibly drunk, then they could be held accountable. The least likely to be found negligent is the driver of the disabled vehicle, unless that person had a way to move their car out of the travel lane and did not do so.
  22. let me guess, you also think the mcdonald's coffee lawsuit was completely ridiculous too. It was. Let me guess, you are someone that likes to never accept resposiblity in life. To each their own. Wow I've never seen someone actually agree with that lawsuit. I know. I almost fell out of my seat. LOL who would seriously admit to that. People who actually know the facts of the suit. People who are ignorant and say "LOLOL SHE DRANK COFFEE WHILE DRIVING AND SPILLD IT WHAT A MORAN" laugh about it, though.
  23. let me guess, you also think the mcdonald's coffee lawsuit was completely ridiculous too. It was. Let me guess, you are someone that likes to never accept resposiblity in life. To each their own. okay then read the facts. McDonald's was serving coffee at an unusually hot temperature to save money (keep coffee from going cold), and at that temperature third degree burns will occur in a matter of seconds. Despite this, McDonald's had no warning label on their product and continued to serve coffee at a dangerously hot temperature. So let me guess. You're somebody who wants to blame the individual for things that aren't really their fault, and let negligent businesses and corporations off the hook. To each his own.
