  1. didn't you get the memo? those of us who are concerned about his lack of power are just being ridiculous.
  2. yeah, gotta love how he forgot how to hit for power the moment he signed a contract with the cubs.
  3. and the best pinch hitter on the team looks on while a mediocre hitter strikes out. great work lou.
  4. if lou was smart, ward would be hitting for pagan
  5. don't fall for it. you're better than that.
  6. wow, willingham struck out twice against eyre... you know his teammates will be making fun of him for that
  7. I'm assuming that Hill, Lilly, Marquis, Guzman, Marmol, Theriot, Lee, Wuertz, Marshall and Ramirez won't be traded. Zero trade value: Eyre, Izturis, Blanco, Miller. If the Cubs want these guys off the team they'll have to eat most of their salary. Little trade value: Howry (unless he starts pitching like he did last year), Jones, Ohman, Floyd, Pagan, Ward (though Jones, Floyd or Ward could get a mid-level prospect from a team looking for bench help) Moderate trade value: DeRosa (probably little to moderate), Dempster (if he keeps throwing well - teams get desperate for bullpen help), Barrett, Murton (should be kept, but Cubs apparently don't like him) High trade value: Zambrano if he comes around
  8. you can't blame Hendry for Soriano not hitting for power He averaged 37 the past five years.
  9. Ward, Murton... DeRosa has been solid this year and is useful because of his versatility. Barrett used to be good, though I wouldn't mind seeing him get dealt. Wuertz is good, Dempster is all right, Marmol and Guzman have potential. I'm hoping Howry comes back the next few weeks and increases his trade value.
  10. His whip must be through the roof only about two and a half, which coincidentally matches his weight
  11. i hope our friends at the game booed scott eyre lustily upon his entrance and exit
  12. what a bum scott eyre is. fire jim hendry yesterday.
  13. the faster the cubs fall out of the playoff race, the better. Then maybe we can get some Pie, Patterson or Soto on this club, and hopefully start to dump the dead weight.
  14. 3 deep fly outs by Patterson  Sounds like he's still hitting the ball hard, but didn't have anything to show for it. He did walk once, giving him 10 in 25 games this month, which is a pretty solid rate. April he walked only 5 times in 21 games.
  15. But, but, but...this team has a lot of talent! yeah because the last 7 days are always indicative of the type of talent that is on any given team
  16. no, because Soriano is the CF in that lineup, and the Cubs have decided that he's not playing CF any more.
  17. another banner day for the most underachieving organization in professional sports.
  18. His spot in the order came up in a scoreless game with a man in scoring position and 2 outs, so he got lifted for Ward, who lined out softly to Kent. I'd rather stick with a pitcher who is rolling than put in a batter who has at best a 1 in 3 chance of getting the run in.
  19. And once again Eyre screws his team out of a victory. I put major blame on Lou for this loss as well since he should know better than to use Eyre when the game is on the line by now. Bye bye Eyre; you won't be missed. yeah unfortunately jim hendry is too proud to eat eyre's contract and admit that he made a mistake
  20. bad decision taking him out after just 66 pitches. Still, nice outing by Rich. Hopefully for his sake he gets traded to a real baseball team.
  21. Who's doing well in Iowa's rotation/Pen right now? Hell, anyone opening eyes in Tennessee? maybe he was talking about offense. Patterson, Pie, Fontenot, Soto and Hoffpauir are all hitting well.
  22. honestly, is there any doubt that the cubs will lose this game? not in my mind.
