  2. Natasha Whatley About her former teammate Claire Sua? http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/ucla/sports/w-softbl/auto_action/a-sua053104.jpg mooooooooo
  3. The only shocker would be that another team wanted his services. Oh, and didn't Izzy try to give ARam a shocker in the dugout a few weeks ago?
  4. watching skip bayless, woody paige and jay crawford talk sports for one hour is one of the things i'll be subjected to repeatedly, if i end up in hell after i die
  5. LOL..who did that fatass know in the Tribune company to get such a job. c'mon... he works on the grounds crew, it's not like you have to be in peak physical condition to do that sort of thing. I feel bad for the guy, he's obviously overweight and wasn't able to keep up with the rest of the grounds crew, and for some reason the ESPN cameraman saw fit to single him out on national television.
  6. glad to see doug melvin being recognized on almost all lists... he never deserved to be fired by texas, and is really proving that in milwaukee.
  7. make the playoffs 7 times; win the second most games of any organization in the past 10 years. So not much.
  8. i don't care about the white sox You don't live in Chicago. I'm more referring to the fact that the Brewers consider us their arch rivals, and most Cubs fans don't even refer to the Brewers as anything more then they do Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Houston well don't worry, the brewers are gonna be good for the next five years, so you'll get used to thinking of them as a rival
  9. you guys just don't appreciate a good thing!
  10. I don't have a chubb for veterans the way that Dusty does, but it's a lot of pressure to throw a rookie into an everyday job in which he's hitting and handling the pitching staff. And it's not like Soto would've had a safety net either, since the other two guys stunk. Kendall is a veteran who, by nearly all accounts, is liked by his pitchers and teammates. He won't have any trouble handling the pressure of the stretch run, and as recently as last year, he was a fairly productive player. Will he hit for power? Not at all. But if he can get his OBP up into the .340 range, he'll remove the "auto out" status of our catching situation. I don't think it's a huge deal, but it's not a bad move either, especially given the price. And, as a side note, can we finally admit that the Barrett deal had nothing to do with the abilities of the players involved, and everything to do with getting Barrett off this team? I'm not saying that I necessarily agree or disagree with the move, but that was nowhere close to being the "baseball-motivated only" move that the Cub brass tried to play it off as.
  11. I like what this guy wrote about the Brewers: That's how I feel right now. I mean, the Cubs were in it during the '03 and '04 seasons, as well as '01 and '98, but there also have been a whole lot of years (the last two, for example) where the Cubs were complete dog crap and there was no reason to watch - save to see how the kids played - after May or June. It's fun to have a rooting interest in all these other games around the league, and to keep up with rumors and transactions. I make a point of watching as many games as I can now, or at least checking the score regularly. I love baseball, and the Cubs, and when they're competitive it brings me a lot closer to the game.
  12. I love when people call Cub fans "bandwagoners"... yeah, because it's such a great thing to root for a team that hasn't won a World Series in 100 years. Believe me, people who hopped aboard in 2003 are wishing they found another team to root for.
  13. in related news, Carlos Zambrano had 10 messages from Barry Praver on his cell tell him "shut the hell up Carlos."
  14. I really have to get to PNC Park. I only live 3 hours away, and I've heard nothing but great things.
  15. Must be currently employed as a GM for a major league organization. 1. John Schuerholz 2. Billy Beane 3. Terry Ryan 4. Dave Dombrowski 5. Doug Melvin 6. Walt Jocketty 7. Mark Shapiro 8. Kevin Towers 9. Theo Epstein 10. Bill Stoneman Shockingly, Jim Hendry didn't make the cut for my list.
  16. terrible... blevins is the next koufax
  17. Did you notice that when the guys in blue were running back to foul territory, the cameraman zoomed in on the really overweight guy for a solid five seconds? Like "hey, check out this fatty running!" I felt kinda bad for him.
  18. you haven't seen his basement :-s
  19. I know, right? Ship them out to the A.L. West. Plus, it's not fair that we have to beat out a good team to win our division. But yeah, I have nothing against the Brewers or their fans. Anyone who can stay a loyal fan of a team that's been so pathetic the past 20 years is okay in my book. Hell I root for four pro sports teams that never win championships... it'd be like hating myself.
  20. Cubs, Wrigley, and Ronnie Woo Woo. You really can't put a price on a "woo" from Ronnie Woo Woo Wickers. If you take Woo Woo out, the price goes up by $25M.
  21. hey maybe ryan braun is related to eva braun, who was adolf hitler's mistress/wife. And nobody likes Hitler! I've found a good reason to Boo Ryan Braun!
  22. CIN @ ATL [Probables B. Arroyo (3-10, 4.78) vs J. Reyes (10-1, 3.08, 1.34 WHIP in minors] STL @ FLA [Probables: B. Thompson (6-3, 5.10) vs R. Vanden Hurk (2-2, 8.38)] ARI @ MIL [Probables: Y. Petit (1-1, 3.12) vs C. Vargas (6-2, 4.52)] PHI @ LAD [Probables: J. Durbin (0-2, 13.50) vs M. Hendrickson (4-4, 3.92)] NYM @ SD [Probables: El Duque (5-4, 3.20) vs J. Peavy (9-3, 2.19)] Not particularly encouraging matchups for our interests... but go Reds, Marlins, D'backs, Phils and Mutts!
  23. The Cubs' rotation is the least of my concerns... well actually I'm kinda okay with the bullpen too, but the offense... meh.
  24. oh by the way, everyone wave and say hi to brewerfan.net message board! Hey guys!
