  1. Mora is 33 Plus, wasn't he just a converted utility player? This guy just came out of nowhere a couple years ago. Kind of strange.
  2. Hank=Henry White=Blanco in English And I believe Gabor is Bako's real first name, and Paul is his middle name.
  3. Holla= 2 ABs, 2 pitches. Awesome. Hendry, get a new LF. Right now.
  4. Neif is one of the worst hitters in MLB history due to a combination of factors; his terribly low production numbers and the amount of playing time he somehow manages to get. Neifi's rate stats are deplorable, but what really kills him is that playing time. Most/all players who are as futile at the plate as Neifi never even make the major leagues and those few that do see the show tend to be bench warmers on third-rate teams. For whatever reason, (poorly constructed team/foolish manager/injuries) Neifi has lucked into starting roles pretty much everywhere he's played. This has gotten him enough AB's to cost his teams about 190 runs compared to the production an average hitter would have put up in his place. That's bad, but I say that he's not yet to the point of being called the worst hitter in the last 50 years. That title firmly belongs to Ozzie Guillen, who cost his teams about 250 runs over the course of his career. What about a contribution defensively? Would Guillen have made up those 250 lost runs by contributing to taking away as many by playing defense? Not trying to pick a fight, just wondering if that can be measured also? No, not even close.
  5. I agree. What were the Mets thinking?
  6. I think Corey's problems have less to do with his swing and more to do with his pitch recognition. I'm not sure if the Cubs realize this though.
  7. I still don't see the point. You're basically trading Wood to dump salary, but then you still have to use that money to sign another starter. Burnett won't come much cheaper than Wood. There are plenty of teams who will overpay for him. Next year is his contract year. I have a feeling Wood plays through the pain and ends up raising his value. Assuming that's the case, it might be better to entertain offers for him at next season's deadline, but only if we have a suitable replacement for him. I'd want at least one good pitching prospect for him that is close to major league ready and a position player, preferably a corner OF or MIF.
  8. I heard this too. And how is Burnett any better than Wood?
  9. Both organizations have made some really dumb moves recently. I still laugh at the Dave Roberts trade.
  10. I know. Isn't it awesome? :D
  11. Could it be possible that the reason Blanco's Starter's ERA is so much is lower is that he has primarily caught Mark Prior this season? Obviously, that's not going to account for all of it because Prior missed a number of starts this year but I think that has a big factor in it. Agreed. I always thought catcher's ERA was a pretty useless stat. Blanco doesn't have any magical game calling skills and Blanco's defense hasn't really impressed me all that much this season. When Prior is really on his game, a one armed midget could catch him and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.
  12. Me too. Hope Hendry doesn't overpay. I don't think he's worth much more than Mitre.
  13. Me too. And Hill has 523 career ABs in the majors now so maybe Dusty will play him on occasion.
  14. Because he's good, except against lefties. Pie is at least a year away and even if Murton is one your starting outfielders next season, you're still going to need another corner OF.
  15. I love how you used the l for a 1. Nice touch.
  16. When it comes to judging a player, those intangibles shouldn't be the first thing to look at though. If the guy can run fast and play good defense, that's great. It's a bonus. Cubs actually scored less runs with Lofton at the top, and I don't see how Coleman helped his teams a lot with that .324 OBP. You can't steal 1B.
  17. Hanley would be nice. Nixon would also be nice in RF next year and Murton in LF, assuming we can't get Dunn.
  18. Imagine if Baker was managing the Cards 4 years ago. Pujols would have rode the bench and he'd eventually be traded for some retread backup outfielder and a bucket of balls. That's funny and sad at the same time.
