  1. I don't think Lawton has any more range than Burnitz.
  2. He's got a lot to work on before he see's the light of day at Wrigley. Since he's batting below the Mendoza line, I don't see a return until the September call-ups. Hairston isn't doing much better right now. OBP is .304 in July. I'd bring Corey up for his D, and stick him in the 8 hole.
  3. Perhaps he meant he won't trade prospects for a rental.
  4. Roberts would be good...off the bench. Problem I have with him is you know Dusty will have him batting leadoff.
  5. I feel some are valuing Soriano way too much. I WANT MENCH!!! :D
  6. That's a much more detailed version of something I daydreamed about earlier. Of course I've probably tried everything in my power to make Manny a Cub and so far nothing has worked yet. I'm sorry if I let you guys down. Don't despair just yet. We still got 15 hours to go. Keep the faith! At least for another 14:30 hours anyway. The Nomar deal wasn't announced to the public until a few hours after the deadline, right? So technically we have a few extra hours. It was announced about 2 minutes after the deadline.
  7. If we had to deal Pie, I think I'd rather have Dunn.
  8. I never really understood this logic. I believe a hitter should take a walk no matter where they are hitting in the lineup. Even in the 8 hole, the hitter should be patient and take a walk to bring the pitcher up, so you can then lead off the next inning with the top of the order. It isn't so much an OBP factor as it is patience. Every hitter should be patient and work the count until they see a pitch to hit, and Soriano doesn't do that. What's his P/PA?
  9. Then how do you explain why just about all the other hitters in that lineup have extreme home/road splits? It's not like it's just Soriano. Many of their players hit terrible on the road, and it has been that way for a long time.
  10. Even if the guy's road numbers aren't a factor, I still don't see him as a huge difference maker. In 3015 career ABs, the guy has walked 142 times. That's pathetic. OBP is this team's biggest offensive weakness. They should be looking to upgrade, not add to the problem.
  11. Perhaps you should check his road splits. He has 7 HR on the road. His line is .240/.276/.401/.677. He's another hacker. Cubs hitters lack plate patience, and he just adds to the problem. I really don't think this guy is a difference maker. I'm sure Hendry/Baker will love him though.
  12. Cubs lead by 22 runs this season. They also have a BA that is .018 above the D-backs and a SLG that is .038 above. The D-Backs have a slight (.002) advantage in OBP. I'd say the Cubs offense is better. You know what I don't get? We are ahead of the White Sox in OBP, SLG, and BA, but they have seriously outscored us. What's up with that? Pitching.
  13. That would suck. I'm hoping Hendry has something better than that up his sleeve. It wouldn't suck but unless he's going to play CF I don't know what they plan to do with him unless Walker's going somewhere. It has been discussed ad nauseum on this forum. Soriano is absolutely brutal away from Ameriquest. Almost Neifi-like, with a bit more pop. I wouldn't want him even if he could play CF. He's just not a big enough upgrade.
  14. That would suck. I'm hoping Hendry has something better than that up his sleeve.
  15. When exactly is that time? :?
  16. Cubs are 1st in SLG, 2nd in BA, and 9th in OBP, and 5th in runs in the NL. The offense isn't bad, it is streaky. Compare that with the pitching, which in 9th in runs allowed. We also could stand to take a few more walks. That is always true, but they are about average at getting on base, and clearly capable of scoring. I don't know if a higher OBP will fix the streakiness. To do that, they need to be a little more luck in key situations and execute when it is necessary. Higher OBP will fix the problems the offense has. Get more guys on base=score more runs. 9th in OBP for a $100 mil team is pathetic.
  17. You wouldn't happen to be XCubsX from ITI, would you? Ugh, no wonder I don't post on that board anymore.
  18. Ronny Cedeno. And people aren't angry with Neifi Perez. They're angry with Dusty for playing him over a kid who was hitting .370 in AAA and sticking him in the 2 hole.
  19. No. The smart thing to do is send Ronny down so he can get some ABs instead of sitting on the bench. Macias should be released no matter what.
