  1. I DON'T CARE WHAT THE STATS SAY HE'S NOT CLUTCH
  2. That lineup would not outproduce this year's lineup. How about this: Resign Lawton. Sign Giles, although he wouldn't be my first choice. If the Cubs want to upgrade defense at 2B, maybe they should look into Junior Spivey. His career numbers are comparable to Walker's, but he is inconsistent. He's injured right now. I don't think it would take very much to get him. Or perhaps the Marlins would be willing to trade Castillo? I'd also like to see C upgraded. Barrett's offense is good, but I think we can do better. Barrett and Murton to the A's for Kendall. Then stick Pie in CF. lawton kendall giles lee aram nomar pie spivey
  3. Yes, I'd take him everyday and twice on Sunday's over Pierre, and he wouldn't block Pie. Cubs just need to make sure they get some power out of the other corner OF spot.
  4. His current numbers aren't far off from his career averages. He has been pretty inconsistent during the course of his career.
  5. We need them for the stretch dude, there's nothing to be worried about. I think Dusty has a future as one of these new bleeding heart educators who care more about not hurting a kid's feelings than preparing them for the world. But his terrible managing hurts my feelings.
  6. While I understand what your saying and agree that I wouldn't want them to tighten up the purse strings, having a low payroll does not automatically make for a less competitive team, just as having a high payroll doesn't automatically guarantee a WS trophy type team (see the 2005 version of the Cubs). No, but it guarantees Prior and Z won't be around for very long.
  7. But on topic, say Dusty does leave. Who's gonna take his place? Sarge? Does anyone else recognize the possibility that whoever takes Dusty's place might actually be worse? Well, if Dusty is gone, I'd have to imagine the rest of the coaching staff would be shown the door too. So I don't think it would be Sarge. I want Ron Gardenhire. Whatever it takes. Offer him a bunch of money.
  8. I'm not sure Nomar can play 2b, and with how much he would cost, his value is at SS. I believe he played 2b in the minors and had problems turning DPs.
  9. How can anyone complain about the Garland trade? You do know that he sucked before this year? If he was put in the Cubs rotation, nobody would have been nearly as patient with him as the White Sox were. I also didn't really see Rich Hill as a hot commodity. Any smart GM or scout should know that he is nothing special. He's maybe a throw-in.
  10. Aram looked at that one too long. What does he think he's doing? :D
  11. I haven't noticed it much, but when someone does mispell/pronounce a Cub's name is (Jerry) Harriston, or some variant of that. BTW, who's Ryan? Ryan Sanberg
  12. Tonight's projected lineup: lawton macias lee burnitz aram nomar walker barrett ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  13. No, but I think Andruw will.
  14. Walker only hated Dusty last year. Hairston hates him this year. My Lineup: walker nomar lee aram nixon mench pie (Cubs will make the mistake of bringing him up too early) barrett
  15. It was from the Cubs section of the ProSportsDaily forum.
  16. Perhaps this was discussed earlier, but I read on another Cubs forum that Brownlie made his first start in a while on Tuesday. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 IP, and was throwing in the mid-90s for most of the 5 innings. Can anyone confirm this?
  17. Kerry Takatsu?
  18. Noway would DePo put up with Dusty. I've read Cubs fans hoping he goes to LA. Where the heck did that come from? Oh and I can't believe Holla was a D upgrade!  Here: http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/la-sp-bbcol31jul31,1,2436563.story?page=2&coll=la-headlines-sports-majorbaseb&ctrack=1&cset=true Scroll down.
  19. Would you trade Pie for DeJesus? Obviously, Pie projects to be a better player, but DeJesus has better plate discipline and has proven to be a pretty good player. Maybe Pie for DeJesus and a mid-level pitching prospect?
  20. And you expect Corey to do better? No, but I don't expect him to do much worse, and he'll at least play solid defense.
  21. Our offense is streaky, but I don't know why everyone thinks it is so unbelievably terrible. It is above average in the NL, and not the team's biggest problem. I'd say that our pitching, specifically the bullpen, should be a much bigger concern. Today's game is a good example of the team's pitching problems. Cubs pitching in close and late games is the 2nd best in the league. Offense is the problem, especially OBP. Lack of patience is the reason why they get shut down by crappy pitchers and bullpens very often.
  22. Bring Corey up and bat him 8th. Hairston's OBP in July was just over .300, and his defense has been very shaky. lawton nomar lee aram burnitz walker barrett patterson
