Assuming USC and Texas win next week, I think the 2 at-large spots deserve to go to 2 of Notre Dame, OSU, Oregon, and Auburn.(I'd lean towards OSU and Oregon, but contrary to popular belief no group of those 2 is a ridiculous choice.)

If USC loses I'd say both them and UCLA belong.

If Texas loses, I'd say they go into the maybe group with the other 4. (A loss to Colorado heading into the bowls is pretty inexcusable)

A prime example of the ND mentality...

Derwood, I have complained on this board about how biased that board is, even for my taste. And Rock's House is the message board. The Rock and OmahaDomer are posters there (who are extemely ND biased). That is a post from the message board. Every week they issue "The Rock Report" put together by a few of the posters and place it on the hompage. That was one of them. I have said this many times, but please don't take what a few fans do and label ND fans as a whole based on that. I am sure people could read some posts on here or other Cubs message boards and say the same thing about Cubs fans, but we all know it isn't true. The same holds true with ND fans, and to be quite honest I am getting sick and tired of the fans constantly being portrayed in a negative light. You don't like the school, fine, but please stop making remarks about the fans. There are many, many respectful ND fans. Don't let a few bad apples ruin you opinion of the people who follow ND (that isn't directed at only you).

It should be noted that there have been editorials written by USC and Syracuse fans this season (and I'm sure there are other opponents who have done the same) about how respectful and welcoming ND fans are.

In my opinion, there should be a playoff with the top 8 BCS teams involved. No exceptions, no conference affiliations. That's the only way to somewhat eliminate the bias from the postseason.

Unfortunately it will never happen, and year in and year out teams like Cal last year, Oregon this year, etc. will complain, sometimes with good reason, about being left out of the BCS.

That said, I wonder, if Notre Dame beat OSU in the Fiesta, whether there would still be complaints about how ND got in based solely on $$$ (which I'm not arguing is mostly the case here).

Slight disagreement here, SSR. I agree with Kirk Herbstreit that I would take Auburn over the Ducks based on the body of work, and I'd probably take OSU over ND (if I didn't have allegiances to the contrary).

I also think that if USC or Texas loses, they're in as an at-large unless they put up a "Nebraska/Colorado 2001" type performance.

I don't think there is any doubt, however, that:

If USC and Texas win - ND and OSU at-large

If one loses - USC/Texas and ND at-large (OSU left out)

If they both lose - both at-large (ND and OSU left out)

If USC loses, it seems more than like UCLA is headed to the Holiday Bowl and not a BCS game. Seems like a hefty price for being blown out by Arizona.

Also if USC loses there may be a USC/ND rematch in the Fiesta.

Does anyone think that perhaps the 2 at-large teams should have to face each other in the "lowest" BCS bowl? In other words, should the Fiesta be allowed to (potentially) pick the two at-large teams with picks 1 and 3 over the conference champs?

In pretty much every year that at-large matchup is going to be better than at least 1 of the other BCS bowls.

They won't be picking OSU over PSU in any case. It seems likely that it will go: Fiesta picks ND, Orange picks PSU, then Fiesta picks OSU.

Last Year's Fiesta Bowl was embarassingly bad.

Only because it had the joke Big East champ in Pittsburgh pitted against a very good Utah team that should have been playing Auburn in a second battle of unbeatens.
