I hate Duke! The big east looks awesome. Although illinois did beat georgetown handily.

I know what you're saying that Illinois beat Georgetown, but please don't tell me you're one of those people that thinks Illinois is better than Duke this year. I have a friend that has been calling everyone he knows saying Duke should be ranked behind Illinois right now.

When a middle of the road Big East team beats the undefeated Dukies, that shows something. I can't wait for ND to get destroyed by the Hoyas on Tuesday and go to 1-5.

hard to say who is better - I think Illinois could beat Duke when they play well. That is, Duke is far from great and is beatable (obviously). Illinois hasn't been too impressive lately but is good enough to be dangerous. I wouldn't argue they should be ranked ahead of Duke though.

It shows that it's very difficult to go undefeated and to win on the road.

Definitely, Big East is the best conference now. And in my opinion, the Big Ten has jumped to number 2 this year. Other than Duke and maybe NC State, the ACC is in a rebuilding year this year.

The Big 10 is first in conference RPI, ACC second, and the Big East a tight 3rd. IMO, the B10 is the strongest conference this year followed by the Big East.

It's just my opinion, but I think that Illinois, like Louisville this year, is one of the most overrated teams around. They can be dangerous if they get hot, but Georgetown just showed that they have the same power. I haven't watched too many Illinois games this year, but from the few that I have seen, it looks like just a two man game with Brown and Augustine. And Iowa showed how to shut that down.

I don't know if Florida has played a tough enough schedule to take over number one right now. And UConn and Nova have lost recently, so I don't see either of them making the jump. I think that Duke will hang on to the #1 ranking, but just barely. As of this week, they have every first place vote in the AP poll, and all but one in the coaches poll.

RPI isnt' a very accurate way to judge those things. To say that the ACC is tougher than the Big East (I know you didn't say that, but that's what RPI implies) is ridiculous. The Big East just has too many great teams. They've had what, four different teams in the top five this year? Big Ten is good, but I don't think they top the Big East

Well Wisconsin just lost to a 10-9 North Dakota St. team at home so this doesn't bode too well for the Big 10. If WV beats UCLA the Big East may sneak into the top spot RPI wise.

its tough to win on the road. Illinois needs brown to shoot well. they showed some depth at indiana but brown shot terribly. I don't think they are as overrated as louisville but they probably aren't a top five team. that being said, there aren't a lot of dominant teams this year. I think the tournament will be wide open.

Big East- #3, #7, #9, #15, #17, #20 avg: 11

Big 10- #5, #11, #12, #13, #19, #25 avg: 14

There's not much distinguishment there.

Oh, tournament could go to anyone right now. And I do agree with what you said about Brown. If he has an off night, they are a beatable team. I think the team that everyone needs to watch out for in the Big Ten is Ohio State. Everyone's beating each other up at the top, they could do some serious damage. The Big East will be a crapshoot. The problem with having that many powerhouses in the same conference is that they all have to play each other. A lot of losses will pile up, but that conference will be ready for NCAA tournament play.

UW is going to drop big time now that they've lost 3 key players to injury.

I think they are beatable even when he shoots well. But they play great defense so they should have a shot in every game. I wish they had played more tough non-conference games to try and toughen up some of the younger players. The seeding should be pretty interesting this year.

Big East has had I think 7-8 teams ranked at some point this year. Any given week, a new Big East team can step into the rankings. Just last week, Cincinnati was ranked, and now they're barely getting votes. The conferences are definitely close. But in my opinion (and not even an expert opinion at that), the top teams in the Big East are better than the top teams in teh Big Ten.

Yeah, I'm getting sick of these early season games against Little Sisters of the Poor that a lot of these teams schedule. If teams aren't ready for real competition, they should've prepared better. You can only watch Duke play St. Alphosis Bible College, and Texas play Northeastern Idaho State University so many times before you want to switch over to Gilligan's Island reruns.

Probably but this loss will hurt them big time when it comes to selection time.

I think Georgetown showed a way to beat Duke. Leave the lane open and back door. Let Paulus shoot. Redick doesn't know how to pass the ball so just get ready for a shot or help out.

I think a lot of teams have a chance to win it all.

Another good way to beat Duke is to take the ball at Sheldon Williams early and often. Get him in foul trouble like today, and Duke is in a lot of trouble. McRoberts is going to be a great player someday, but he's not ready to handle the lane all by himself yet.

Relating to that point, is it just me or is this the 3rd year in a row Duke is playing a 7 man rotation that gets hurt with foul trouble? For a school like Duke you'd think they'd be able to fix that given that long a stretch.

That might hurt them in the NCAA's if they don't have the usual refs that travel with the team.

By the way, Billy Packer might be the best "master of the obvious" announcer on TV. Not once, but twice within the last 20 seconds he states while Georgetown is up three and shooting the back end of a 2-shot foul, that it's a very important free throw. No crap, really? I'm surprised he didn't let us know that Paulus' turnover at the end was a costly one.

The Big East has UConn, Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, Cincy - and you know who's winning the conference?

West Virginia.

That's what's so amazing about the Big East. So many highly regarded teams in the conference, and the one that's playing best and winning the conference is slipping under the radar amid all the hubbub.

You forgot Villanova.
