Wow, I leave St. Louis and all hell breaks loose -- Mike Martz looks like he'll never coach in St. Louis again, the Blues look like they'll miss the playoffs for the first time since the early '70's and now this. Hagin wasn't too popular with the fans, at least the Cardinal fans I knew and from what I heard on talk radio. There were also rumors that he and Shannon didn't get along, and it seemed as if they were going overboard last season to show that they do get along.

This organization is really low class. They fired Hagin after having him sign some medical papers and then WHOP!

Shannon is a strange bird. He married a distant relative of the Busch family and the team and Al Fleischman(PR guy) put him in the radio/tv booth. Jack Buck NEVER liked him and didn't mention him at all in his book, although he spent more years with Shannon than Harry Caray. Joe Buck doesn't care for him either. Shannon is so bad, that few professional announcers can work with him and not get sick.

The joke is they dumped KMOX for a very small radio station, which the team owns a part of. Ad sales for next year are way down, they needed a boost.

Now you've done it. I didn't think this needed to turn into a 20 page argument but now it might.

THEY WANT LOW CLASS?!?!?! LET'S TALK ABOUT THE CUBS THROWING AT OUR GUYS!!!!

throwing at batters and then sitting in the dugout afraid to come out. He did it with the White Sox(ask the Orioles in the playoffs), he did it with Oakland and he's doing it with St. Louis. It's one thing to pitch inside, it's another to go head-hunting. As much as I wish Dusty was a little more active in the dugout, I'll give him that he won't stand there and let Cubs batters be tossed at. Larussa can't take it to be shown up. Morris hits one of the Cubs and Prior knocks Morris down twice. Larussa wet his pants...as did Morris.

As to the classless St. Louis organization, it is a far cry from the days of A-B owning them. Gussie Busch would not put up with this nonsense. The list of former Cardinals who have issues with the current ownership and manager is quite long: Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee, Jeff Brantley, Andy Van Slyke, etc..

Van Slyke played for the Cardinals? Huh, never realized he started his career there.
