Hopefully we sign Furcal and Giles and will only need to trade Walker either for a pitcher or a Cfer.

Agreed. That would really get me interested in doing a deal for Bradley (which would involve Walker).

Furcal

Murton

Giles

Lee

Ramirez

Bradley

Barrett

Cedeno

word...

so do the dodgers move kent to first then? that might make sense, then.

That would be my guess in that scenario. I really have no idea if they are really considering that though. If Kent stays at 2B (which I'd say is more likely) then they obviously wouldn't have an interest in Walker.

However, they may have an interest in Cedeno? (as a SS or utility player)

Personally, I'd prefer to keep Walker at 2b and let Cedeno be my back-up infielder for a season and then move Ronny into the starting role in 2007.

Plus, it would keep Neifi! away.

Until Ronny makes his first error and Dusty has to put in one of "his guys."

If Gammons is correct, it will be interesting to see how patient he is with Murton and Cedeno in the starting lineup.

This is the best news I've heard all day.

I was kinda pulling for Walker to be on the team next year, but if the management is set on dealing him, we could get some very good things. Talk about selling high...

I think Hairston will be our super-sub next year, and might even start in CF if Corey can't get his stuff together.

C'mon....Furcal....c'mon....Furcal.....

This is my thinking too. If Hendry gets some AAAA flunkees and Baker puts them in left and 2nd once the rookies struggle this team will be right back to 2004-05. See Dunston/Enrique Wilson/Lenny Harris/Holla/Goodwin in the Baker file.

I defintely see a match with the mets if we land Furcal, they will do almost anything to get rid of Matsui and Cameron would suit our need perfectly of a short term CF with a view to PIe '07. They would either have to eat alot of salary or give an MLB ready prospect.

I don't like Murton and Cedeno in the same lineup unless we have good to great production from SS, RF, and CF.

I agree 100%. Would you be ok with Furcal, Abreu and Preston Wilson?

I don't like Wilson, but Abreu might make up for that some. I'd rather see Bradley, Wilkerson, Clark, Michaels, GMJ, or Church in CF.

Interesting I could see this...Do the Mets have any up-and-coming prospects worth mentioning?

Technically, Murton and Cedeno aren't rookies anymore. I wonder if that will sway Dusty's thinking? 8)

I just don't see the Nationals moving Wilkerson because they don't have enough offense. Is Bradley good enough on defense to play CF? I just se Hendry liking Wislon like he coveted Burnitz so that's why I added him.

Also, do you think the Cubs have enough talent to trade for Abreu AND Bradley? Do either of those teams need a second baseman like Walker? I'm curious if anyone has interest in Patterson....I really feel some GM would really like him in their lineup.

Bradley is a top defender. He'd be a great fit for the team. Now, if only he were a "quality, quality" guy.

I don't think being a rookie is the key. Age and years of experience are the keys to Dustys heart. Bellhorn had time in MLB and hit 27 HR's the year before and Baker still felt the need to put Harris at 3rd.

I'd be happy if the Cubs paid the money and gave the Mets a couple of Rule 5 guys that won't make the list.

Well let's let the Bleacher Bums make him laugh once in awhile then!

How about Lastings Milledge?

What's wrong with keeping RC and TW? Platoon them at 2B, and on days when RC starts, Walker is your best option off the bench.

walker would be pissed because he wants to start every day (not a bad thing of course!) but thats a very good idea. he can also give lee a break at 1b once in a while.

That and he hits left handers just as well as he hits righters, making a platoon counter-productive. (to lazy to look up career splits, but this year was much better against lefites - vs. Left: .352 vs. Right: .291)

Have Furcal at SS, Giles at RF, and Walker at 2B and have Cedeno spell SS and 2B getting rid of Neifi. Bring in Fontenot to replace Macias. An upgrade in CF would be nice but even if Corey(in the 8th hole) is there I would be happy with the lineup.

What is Milton Bradley's contract situation?

He was a super-two, and I'm not positive if that means he reaches Free Agency a year earlier or if he gets a 4th year of arbitration. If it's the former he's a FA after '06, the latter after '07.

I think he gets the 4th year of arbitration. Not early free agency.

Rulebook please :?

Also, they have a pitcher in AA, called Yusmeiro Petit.

Signed out of Venezuela, Petit began his pro career in 2003 by tossing 74.1 innings with a 2.30 ERA and 85-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in the low minors. But wait, it gets better. He started last season at Single-A Capital City and had a 2.39 ERA and 122-to-22 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 83 innings, before moving up to Single-A St. Lucie. Petit had a 1.22 ERA and 62-to-14 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 44.1 innings there and then finished the season by making two starts with a 16-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio at Double-A. Add it all up and you get an absolutely obscene career line for a pitcher who doesn't turn 21 until November: 40 starts, 2.23 ERA, 213.2 innings, 285 strikeouts, 51 walks, 136 hits allowed.

This might have been stated before but what is the thought on playing Walker in Leftfield......I remember talk about Him playing there his first year for the Cubs when we had Grudz,,,He would be a cheap outfielder and insurance in case Ronny fails to impress....
