Good or bad if you're a Philly fan?

In Seattle they called him "Stand Pat" Gillick, because he never made trades at the deadline while Beane would pick up Ray Durham and whatnot and then own Seattle...Gillick did put together the 116 win Mariners IIRC...it could go either way.

Gillick would definitely be a good hire for Philly, he has had great success for almost the last 30 years before leaving Seattle.

Dayton Moore is still #1 on my potential GM list.

Good thing.

Mr. Miles is not kidding. Just look at Gillick's resume:

- 5 AL east titles as GM for Toronto (including 2 World Series wins)

- 2 ALCS appearances in '96 and '97 as GM for Baltimore

- 2 ALCS appearances in '00 and '01 as GM for Seattle

9 playoff appearances in about 16 years for 3 different teams.

Outstanding! With Gillick in charge, I can't see Hendry swiping Abreu or Burrell without coughing up a lot. Besides, I bet Gillick will make that Thome/Bell for Beltre rumour a reality.

It's official now (Gillick to Philly, Hunsicker to Tampa Bay).

AP[/url]"]Hunsicker gets the title of senior vice-president of baseball operations. Andrew Friedman was promoted to executive vice-president of baseball operations after serving as director of baseball development for the past two years.

Friedman and 29-year-old team president Matt Silverman have assumed larger roles in the organization since new principal owner Stuart Sternberg took over control of the team last month from former managing general partner Vincent Naimoli.

The young executives have been conducting the search for a new manager, interviewing 10 candidates before paring the list to three finalists - former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine, Los Angeles Angels bench coach Joe Maddon and incumbent Devil Rays bench coach John McLaren.

A second round of interviews is planned during next week's general managers meetings in Indian Wells, Calif., and Hunsicker will assist Friedman is making a decision on Lou Piniella's successor in the next two weeks.

Hunsiker left one medeling

I doesn't make sense.

I don't believe he's the GM, though. He's apparently going to be assisting the young staff in TB.
