So I see that Sammy filed for free agency. Anyone care to speculate about where he might end up or how much he might get?

Baltimore's Sammy Sosa filed for free agency Monday along with World Series star Geoff Blum and Chicago White Sox teammate Carl Everett.

Sosa was a bust in his first and likely only season with the Orioles, who acquired him from the Chicago Cubs in February with one year left on his $72 million, four-year contract. The 36-year-old outfielder, fifth on the career list with 588 homers, was limited by injuries to 380 at-bats and hit .221 with 14 homers and 45 RBIs.

you might as well just flush your money down the toilet, Sammy was one of the worst players in baseball last year.

Colorado, 5 mil. Just a guess.

I'd like to see it...just to see Sammy be able to put up some numbers for a couple more years. It was sad to see him tank so bad this year. At the same time, however, it made me feel not as bad about the Cubs dumping him off.

How 'bout the Land of the Rising Sun?

I'd like to see him back in the NL so he could play a series at Wrigley. I would be extremely interested to see his reception.

Might be the place where he still has the most love.

That was my guess. He already has the stats for the HOF, and I think he just wants to play somewhere that the fans love him. Japan fits that bill. Super small parks = lots of homers.

Right here in Kansas City, $4MM, that's my guess. KC is desperate for some kind of excitement, ANY kind of excitement. Ownership has said they'll increase payroll about 10MM this coming year. They could DH Sammy, and hit him between Sweeney and Emil Brown. Add in Matt Stairs, and at least their offense would have a pulse.

Cubs - 4 years, $60 million

I was having an arguement today with a Sox fan and a Cubs fan who wanted to keep Sosa for some stupid reason last year today about what the fans reaction would be if Sosa did come back to the Cubs for like 2 mil or something. I said most fans would not want him back and wouldnt be thrilled even if he apologized to have him back. The other two said if he apologized that Cub fans would forgive him. I called that statement stupid, but was just wondering what everyone else thought.

I didn't want to trade him. I don't really feel he owes us an apology either. The whole incident was never a big deal to me. The season was already lost at that point, I couldn't care less who played. I was just pissed that they blew the wild card.

At this point, I wouldn't want him back, not because of anything having to do with resentment or dislike, just because he sucks.

If he could still put up a .900 OPS like he did in 03 (and much of 04), I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

Fan love and homers have always been of paramount importance to him. Maybe he'll still be able to find them in Japan.

Agreed on never wanting to trade him after 04, agreed on not wanting him now due to suckitude, and agreed on the .900 OPS point.

Now if Sammy really wanted to endear himself back to Cub fans, he could always come back to the Cubs for about 2-3 million and promise to a) work his a$$ off this offseason and b) be largely a bench performer.

I don't think this will happen though, because Sammy could probably get more than that from another team and because I think Dusty would raise a big stink if he tried to come back.

I think the Cards should pick him up for a couple years as their replacement for Walker in right field.

A 5 year $55 million deal with a $10 million buyout would be nice deal for Sosa to don the Cardinal Red.

You KNOW if this happened he would find it again and tear the league up.

I'd still take my chances..............

If I was there I'd give him a standing ovation.
